Rodgers/Brees Argument

  • The argument that Brees had a better year than Rodgers is comical. Rodgers was the better quarterback and on the better team and should run away with the MVP award. Brees supporters will throw out the stats and show that Brees beat Rodgers in pretty much every category, but what no one points out is that Brees threw the ball 155 more times than Rodgers. Lets look at some numbers.

    2011 Stats

    Brees: 657 Attempts, 5476 Yards, 46 TDs, 14 INTs, 110.6 QB Rating
    Rodgers: 502 Attempts, 4643 Yards, 45 TDs, 6 INTs, 122.5 QB Rating

    Rodgers Stats if he threw as much as Brees: 6,069 Yards, 58 TD's, 7 INTs

    So clearly, Brees only put up better numbers because he threw more passes. Rodgers would of destroyed him in every single category if he threw as much as Brees.

    The completion percentage advantage is the only thing Brees has and Rodgers set the NFL record for QB rating so he's been the better all around QB. Brees once again threw for more yards when they played because he threw 14 more times than Rodgers.

    You take both QB's off their teams for a year and I think GB does better therefore Brees would be your MVP

    However, Peyton Manning deserves it

    Matt Flynn isn't just some random back-up QB, he's probably the best back-up in the NFL and will be a starting quarterback next year. Who knows what a back-up would do for the Saints either, we haven't seen it.

    Rodgers has been better than Brees is every category besides completion percentage.

    Indy's defense is designed to play with a lead so they can use their pass rush. Without Manning they didn't with many leads. They also lost Sanders for good this year which hurt as well.

    Just because Flynn is a good quarterback and had a good game doesn't mean Brees is more important to the Saints than Rodgers is to the Packers. How do you know Flynn doesn't do the same thing while on the Saints.

    Brees put up his numbers due to volume of throws, thats a fact.

    No the Saints just throw the ball more than the Packers. Its not like GB had a great running game or anything, the Saints run more offensive plays and throw the ball more. Did you see the numbers Rodgers would of put up if he threw as much as Brees?
