And I'm pretty sure she and Phelps are close friends. I would hope Lochte wouldn't stoop that low, but if he tried I would like to think Phelps would at least TRY to keep that DA from messing with her head. I mean, come on...he's 27, she's 17 and doesn't strike me as the one night stand kind of high school girl.

I don't mind him representing the US since he's good as long as his worst offense is being a douchebag.

That said, he is the definition of a douche, as he is guilty of the one definitive thing when it comes to being a douchebag, the thing they all have -- a lack of self-awareness.

Not him. From his tv interviews I had a hard time rooting for him. Came off as a total douche. And his excuses in his pool side interview after the 4x100 relay. Pathetic. Don't like him and never will.

too bad the guy cant replicate MP when he interviews and stuff but still glad the kid is on our side when all is said and done JMO

I'm a bit late to this party, but....

Just about all of you don't know what you're talking about. First, the relay. The US put their best swimmers on the front half of the relay in order to get clean water to swim in. Lochte is a marginal sprinter (coaches probably shouldn't have had him swim it at all) and he got run down by one of the best sprinters in the world. The rest of the relay needed to give him a bigger lead if the US had a shot at it at all. I'm not standing up for Lochte losing the lead, I'm just explaining some basic relay strategy that ended up not working.

Second, I guarantee you that Phelps is more douchey than Lochte. Lochte is the laid back dude you'd have a beer with in college. He's def a cocky SOB, but the dude has worked his ASS off. The UF swimming program (and the UF coach) is known for killing their swimmers. You gotta have some huevos to make it there. Phelps is the kid that you played a sport w/ who had over-obsessing parents. If you played any sport as a child, you know the type.

Regardless, I have an insane amount of respect for both of them. The work it takes to get to that level as a swimmer (especially in the events they're good at) is more than anyone could honestly understand. The only people that can remotely understand that level of work are gymnasts, distance runners, and rowers (yes, I said rowers).
