SCOTUS strikes down Arizona immigration law

But it is that easy. Until the laws are changed, follow them. Many have gone through the long, drawn out process, and followed the law. This is a slap in the face to them by people that chose to take the easy way out.

I agree with you, the process should be done the "right" way by citizens who are trying to enter the U.S. Obviously, as long as our borders are as loose as they are, there's always going to be a large amount of people who attempt to cross it illegally.

With that being said, the process by which you go by deporting these people shouldn't promote discriminatory policies.

so what?..My wife is Chinese American, we went through the long drawn out process, We spent the money and time to do it lawfully...She is Chinese American now...pisses me off that we did it and thousands more do it and people think it is "ok" for Mexicans not to have to.

What's the exchange rate going for these days?

If China was our contiguous neighbor, I guarantee we would have the same problem. Hell, thousands of Chinese have come here illegally via smugglers.

I'm very thankful that you and your wife did it the "right" way, but that doesn't change the fact the "right" way is broken.

I say we secure the border first. Then debate what to do about the people already here. This is all pointless if the border isn't secure.

  • My family immigrated to the US from Kenya in 2004. It cost my family about $126,000 and 13 years to finally get here legally. Green cards + social security #s. Just as an example of how much it costs to get here legally It's probably different for different countries, but I wouldn't be surprised if emigration from other countries cost nearly as much. $126,000 dollars is about 10,590,300 Kenyan shillings which is a damn fortune over there.

The easy way out? Are you serious?

They walk across the jungles and deserts of Central America and Mexico. Cross a border that is guarded by either natural or man-made barriers. They live in fear of deportation to the hellhole they left. They get taken advantage of by employers.

Did you just hear what Dawg E. Style said? Never once did I pin point those coming illegally from Mexico either. I have my views for all that come illegally.

But how can you call coming here and staying here illegally the easy way out? It doesn't make sense.

Because it's the easy way to come and stay here. The harder way, and the right way, is to go through the process. Period.

I have no clue. Might be because it is Kenya. We had to pay through the nose for application fees.. some might even be bribe money since they weren't allowing many immigrants from Kenya because of the '98 Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. It took 13 years because of bureaucracy and again, the bombings. The american embassy would always forget to tell us about one form or another, and we would have to pay them to do add it to our files since we couldn't do it ourselves. This also increased the amount of $$.

What country did you emigrate from?

in case you missed it, Me and my wife went through it, it was not hard, you go to an attorney, fill the papers out, get a work card so you can work while you go through the process. You go to interviews, finger printing, criminal back ground checks...really was not hard at all, just takes time.

Do not take this personally because nothing in this thread has been or is, but that is just wrong.

Everything we've been talking about is relativity, though.

not me, my wife, she was Chinese born and after getting her degrees she moved to Italy and became an Italian Citizen. was a smart move on her part. so I guess you could say she immigrated from Italy. I see your point, could be because of the turmoil in Africa..I hate that for you man.
