#Hokies AD Jim Weaver says there "may be potential interest" in talking with the #SEC about future membership. Defers comment otherwise.

    Thx bro

A monopolization of marijuana legal states cool

Genius then, IMO. As long as there was a good reason.

Lol clemson would never be a member of the SEC. The acc is a sinking ship. I wouldn't mind vt and maybe Louisville.

I said that actually. I would rather have quality though.

Louisville will never be a member either though. Florida, UGA, SCar, and UK got together and all agreed that they were afraid of letting another school from their state in so that they would all block FSU, Miami, Ga Tech, Clemson, and Louisville. Since at the moment, you need 11/14 schools to vote yes, the 4 can block it.

Personally, I don't see the issue. Alabama is really hurting because they have another SEC team in the state.

  • If this happens, it needs to be teams from real Southern states. VT fits

This isn't about quality. Never has been. Its about markets.

If the SEC doesn't have a team in the market, they can only charge about $0.10 per subscriber for the SEC network. North Carolina has 3.4 million cable and satellite homes. Virginia has 2.8 million cable and satellite homes.

If the SEC Network were implemented today, that would be $620,000 per month, 7.4 million per year for these two markets.

If the SEC adds NC State and Virginia Tech, the carriage fees jump to $1 per subscriber. That would be $6.2 million per month, or 74.4 MILLION annually. That's just for these 2 markets.

The SEC already has SC, GA, FL, and KY (can charge the $1) Adding teams from these areas doesn't add to the pie. It would actually give Alabama a smaller check at the end of the year.

That is it. The plan is to maximize the amount of revenue the SEC network will make when it rolls out in a couple years. Adding new markets brings in far more money than the fsus and clemsons.

Kind of what I was thinking. FSU may get blocked but Clemson makes the most sense to take that position. UNC would make sense to get that TV market but I'm not sure that UNC would ever leave Duke on the basketball front. Of course money talks and BS walks so who knows. I'm sure that the higher ups in the SEC would pick FSU if they had their choice but not sure if the four schools you listed earlier would allow that to happen. My guess would be VT in the East and Clemson in the West. That is just a complete guess though.

Yeah I don't think UNC would ever come, but they make the most sense because they are a new state for subscriber fees (SEC Network) and they have a big national following. They also bring a great basketball program.
