Haha, totally understandable. I did a pretty piss poor job of making making my point of view clear as well.

  • I really do like the rule about greyshirting guys who have already reported. I don't want to see that happen in the future, so it's good to take it away all together.

To me the medical hardship oversight is huge.

Alabama still has 8 more cuts to make. I have a feeling you are going to see a record number of medical hardships before the new rule is in place.

Great thing about it is-We are loaded @ this time. We won't have to take risky players for awhile. Some other schools are gonna be in trouble.

Marcel Dareus, Mark Ingram and Julio Jones were 3 of the final four signees from Bama's oversigned 2008 recruiting class. Think they made a difference?

  • In a complete reversal of what the SEC coaches voted (unanimously in both cases) the SEC Presidents have passed several rules to address over signing.

And that the $EC won't have the benefit of a full recruiting class worth of extra players to sift through over a 4-5 year period. Amazing how easy it is to have a great team when a signed LOI is just making it past the first round of cuts.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Well whats going to happen is some of these that people aren't sure if they can make the grades or not will just get passed by and not even offered now. We will see how this affects the SEC when we are still beating yall in 5 years. And i dont' think a few extra signees is the reason yall got whooped so bad by bama.

There's a difference between " a few extra" and "enough to fill an entire recruiting class on its own". When you have 25% more prospects to work with than your opponent, doesn't it stand to reason that you're going to net out more high level performers?

I make no excuses for our loss to 'Bama; we lost fair and square. We were outplayed and out-talented, no doubt about it. I do wonder, however, how many of those guys would still be on your team if oversigning wasn't allowed, and how that would impact our game. I'm 99% sure that MSU would have still lost; the OL/Front-7 disparity was just too much on both sides of the ball.

Oversigning isn't the only thing working against the Big 10 here. We play the SEC in it's own backyard for most our bowl games and FL hasn't played a non-conf opponent outside the State of FL in decades. Before you go puff out your chest, keep in mind that it is a far from even playing field, one that quite clearly tilts in favor of the SEC.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

That's far fetched thinking. Those players Were signing with us. We wouldn't have taken a fewer players that were marginal. Nick Saban is the best in the business. Not concerned in the least.

Your team was pathetic. and to think they won a share of the Big 10 title. shows how terrible the Big 10 really is. that game was the worst beatdown i've ever seen. injured MSU QBs every play, at one point a WR had to play QB.

Yea, Nichol actually was a QB who switched to WR. You've got a lot of studs on your team, and an OL that was finally healthy for our game. By rights Bama had the most talented team in the nation. Guess that's what you get for choking away a 4 score lead to your arch-rival; a date with a "pathetic" team. Anyways, that game was the conflux of an underachieving team playing up and an overachieving team playing down.

Such is life. Any more flames?

  • I dont think yall understand that if we couldn't oversign we wouldn't have signed some of the guys that we did. If we could take chances on some guys we would. I strongly believe if we were limited to 25 back then our classes would look very similar to who we got. What i mean is the main guys we wanted and got we would still have gotten. Sure we may not have gotten some of the lower rated players that we were kind of hoping could develop into something but how many of those guys actually pan out?

I really don't understand why SEC fans would be upset by this at all. They can still oversign by as many as 10 players.

There really should be a set rule that all conferences abide by.

Don't know; Marcel Dareus and Terrence Cody were both 3-star guys and among the least heralded members of your recruiting classes.

No they weren't. Marcell was thought to be the best prospect in AL out of high school by many on our board. He was rated low because of his grades. Watch his high school film, he was an animal. And Cody was a huge get too.

  • The real losers are the kids. Bottom line there is 36 less scholarships for kids to go to school in college football. Wether they grey shirt or get medical hardship, those kids got to go to school when they might not have gotten a chance too. The problem is that everyone is looking at this from the sport side and not the academic/economic side of a highschool athlete. Over four years in the SEC 144 less schollies. That's a big impact. • anyone who calls dareus a marginal recruit knows nothing about the 2008 class..he was so good, saban let his brother, who had no chance of ever qualifying, commit and sign on live TV with him....Hightower committed in november.....Ingram was a 4 star and hotly pursued by bama....Cody had to be talked out of decommitting and going to Miami right before NSD...I was on BOL everyday following that class....All of those kids were big time....Saban routinely discusses how Hightower and Dareus are examples of kids he had rated #1 at their positions on his board coming out of HS...
