Here's a look at the goings on in SEC country on the recruiting trail.

  • Nothing surprising about UGA stockpiling running backs. Tailback for the Bulldogs is one of the glory positions in college football.

If tn can put together an 8 win season somehow they could sign a monster class

Think they'd do well with even 6 or 7. Lot of buzz right now.

Its just slower than we're used to. Add that to the fact that every single sport that matters sucks really badly right now. The best news out of AU is the women's basketball team made the NIT... we're starving for big news.

Making the WNIT is the first step to possibly becoming a 13 or 14 seed next year. Cheer up.

  • For Auburn I think they jsut have to build these relationships for this coming class. We've had some big names visit already. They weren't focused at all on this year before February because they were just trying to hold on to what we had and add a few more. If they recruit anything like they did in those two/three months we will be just fine. We absolutely have to have a decent season though. If we don't go to a bowl game recruits will really start looking elsewhere.

  • I think a solid teabagging of Toledo in the Mieneke Car Care Bowl is in order, sir.

I would rather teabag Duke in the Music City Bowl.

  • Still seems like UGA is way behind in landing quality OL and lagging with the DL also. I know it is early but something needs to change in the way that they are recruiting OL and DL also in landing the top WRs. Just offering is not good enough. They have to go hard at these guys if they are going to land the big fish. Being outrecruited by Ole Miss is horrible and it will be horrible to be outrecruited by Tenn. To let Garner outrecruit them at Auburn is a joke. He never really turned out to be that top recruiter in my book, but then again some teams do what it takes to bring in the top talent. Recruiting mediocre will not beat Ala., LSU, Fla, Ole Miss, and definately not South Carolina. It just seems like UGA doesn't go that extra mile to get over the hump and that comes for the Head Coach. All I can say is win a NC and prove me wrong and I am a big time Dawgs fan and have been for 33 years.

I'm not really sure what you could be complaining about right now. We sign a top ten, top five class every year. It's pretty hard to do better than that.

it was a very tough NSD, no doubt. but taking one year with the next, we recruit about as well as any program that isn't alabama.

i will give you this: we have work to do at OL and DL with this class. carter, shaw, and russell are all in-state studs and we have work to do with all of them. there is good news, though: kentavious street. very high on UGA. we'll be fine.

It's interesting to me that as of this moment, UGA can waltz into North Carolina and grab top prospects, but the Dawgs are in for a battle in their home state with many of the top guys.

Florida and UGA both recruit North Carolina as well as any.

  • Tennessee has slowed down in the commitment department as of late. I think the guy above was accurate in saying that the Vols need a couple of signature wins--or maybe just one HUGE one--to sign a monster class. The commitments so far are great and would be the nucleus of a very good class. But to compete with FL, GA, LSU, A&M, AL, SC and MSSt, UT needs monster classes. I think the new coaches will maximize the potential they have in current athletes, but that simply is not enough in the SEC. They must also sign elite talent.

    VolBol

  • totally agree with you unfortunately AND one great class wont do it , they need to find a way to consistently sign great classes
