SEC criticism

  • Let me explain something to everyone. Teams in the SEC are beatable. People who say that SEC teams are way way way better are wrong. What makes the SEC the best conference is the high number of very good teams in the conference. When a team has a month to prepare for 1 game anything can happen. It's the SEC week to week grind throughout the whole season that our teams have to go through. When you have to play ranked teams 2 to 3 weeks in a row with maybe 1 easy game in between most teams can't get through that. Taking down 1 SEC team down with a month to prepare is 1 thing but surviving the week to week schedule is another. SEC teams are beatable and I give you that obviously but the SEC is definitely the best conference. It's the depth that separates it from other conferences.

Owe you an upvote tomorrow, very good points.

SEC is the best. But the SEC circle jerk people are over the top. There is a happy median

SEC grind is such bs. Yes there are certainly many good teams in the sec, but for the most part the schedules are not that daunting. Every once in a while you will have a team that will have a very tough grind, but not most of em. hell each sec team does not even play 6 of the conference opponents.

For every UGA, I'll show you Alabama (Miss State,@LSU,aTm); Florida (LSU,@Vandy,USCe,UGA); USCe (UGA,@LSU,@UF); LSU (@UF,USCe,@aTm,@UA)....and that's just the good teams.

  • The SEC always manages to have a few good teams. Sometimes an undefeated SEC team gets shut out from the MNC game (witness Auburn), but not usually. The conference is seriously lacking in depth though. The top teams in the SEC are better than the top teams in the Big 12 this year, but the Big 12 is the stronger conference. Why? Depth.

They top six teams in the SEC are better than the top six teams in the Big XII. The difference is your best six represent sixty percent, our's represent ~43%. That's why it looks like that. You guys had half of your conference finish 7-5. Cool.

Notre Dame wouldn't have gone undefeated in any of those stretches. Probably could have gone winless in some of them.

Wait, did you just put Miss St as part of your 3 week grind? And really is playing just 3 good teams (of which you did not, only 2)in a row over the course of an entire season considered a grind?

Miss St was disastrously overranked when you played them, for the simple fact that they were an sec team. They had played nobody coming into the bama game. But since the sec teams always get over-ranked, you are trying to pass them off as part of some grind. Ridiculous.

I'm glad you decided to point out one arguable point. They are a nine-win ball club, eight if you pretend we play a nine game conference schedule. That still is a solid team, not some .500 or worse conference team or a cupcake.

It is well documented that when you have a strong conference with depth and only 10 teams that all play one another, the win/loss records suffer. That is one advantage the SEC has. The conference schedule is loaded with cream puff and the strong teams do not have to play one another ever year. In that respect a 14 team conference is better than a 10 team conference.

  • If you want I can show you Tennessee's schedule from the past 2 years and next years to go along with that. Even with Auburn, ark, and tenn down vandy and Texas a&m were very solid this year. You can't honestly think there's a conference better ... I mean come on man

They only won 8 games, so 7 vs a 9 game schedule, and 6 if you replace a gimme OOC with a decent opponent. handled pretty easily by Northwestern.

Are they a bottom of the barrel nobody? Not saying that, just that if you put them as part of a grind which is only 3 weeks in a row of your entire season, then it really is not much of a grind to speak of. Certainly not as tough as what most other PAC-12 and Big-12 teams face each season.

In no way am i saying that Bama is not a very good team, just that all this nonsense about playin a sec schedule and the grind sec teams face is an utter joke.

It is not a matter of saying what conference is better or not, it is a matter of comparing schedules. And on average PAC-12 and Big-12 teams both play stronger SOS's than sec teams do.

The PAC 12??? They had 2 maybe 3 teams this year that were good. I have respect for the Big 12 and Notre Dame's schedule was a good one in my opinion but the PAC 12?

7 SEC teams won at least 9 games. Pretty deep

  • PAC12 had a pretty good grind of schedules this year. Big 12 was about the same. I'm not sure anyone is arguing against that.

  • using TBB math, though, we now see that the SEC should lose its AQ because one of its best teams lost to the big east, which is like losing to a div.3 school.
