Vandy's run defense was better than tOSU's last season and considering that Vandy had 199 yards rushing against a very good UGA defense I don't think they would have had a problem against tOSU on offense.

Considering Penn St, who averaged the same rushing yard per game as Vandy put up 239 yards, Florida who averaged 30 yards less, put up 141 yards, and Miami, who averaged 21 yards less than Vandy put up 240 yards, I don't think you can say Vandy wouldn't be able to move the ball.

Vandy had an outstanding RB last year in Zac Stacy.

So if all Vandy is going to do is run it, OSU will just blitz every time. If Vandy is going to stay close with OSU they would need to pass with success and I don't see that happening.

Since the inception of the BCS, the SEC has been crowned national champion 57.14 percent of the time. That's a stunning turnaround when compared with an undisputed national title rate of 10.42 percent over the half-century prior.

This statement says all I need to know about this guys credibility.. he gives a percentage of the BCS era and then goes on to talk about the last 50 years?

That seems to suggest to me that when things were all about voting, the national bias against the SEC and FOR the B1G and PAC was easily propogated. All they had to do is vote who they wanted. Was the same with All-Americans, Heismans, and any other individual award that their fans like to glorify moreso than championships. Nowadays, they can get the 2 teams wrong, and that's always debateable (even if they're wrong), but if the major schools winning other major conferences, going undefeated, and being superior to the SEC in every way goes 0-6 against the SEC in championship games...there must be something to our theory.

Then to try to justify it with their #3-6 swapping even wins with our #7-9? Keeping ineligible players just to beat Arkansas? Weak.

    Yep.

Nowadays you don't even have to win your division to be crowned a national champion.

that statement (his, not yours) is such bs anyway.

sec has won 12 titles from 50-97, or 25%. who disputes coaches and ap titles?

and how did the other conf do again? there's no comparison. maybe 12 is really good, or really bad.

turns out it's the best, again. well, independents also had 12 (which included psu, miami, and of course, nd)

big eight was close with 11. (12 if you combine big8 and big12)

    pac with 7.

Hahahaha!! You know nothing about Vandy or the WRs that they have. Here's a better question. How is tOSU going to move the ball. Vanderbilt's defense was ranked better that tOSU's and the only 2 good defenses tOSU face stoned them in MSU and Illinois. They struggled to move the ball against crappy defenses as well.

They had a guy, Jordan Matthews that really only started playing in the last 6 games and averaged 110 yards per game in those games. The QB, Jordan Rodgers (Aaron Rodgers's brother) started the last 6 games of the regular season and went 80-136 1,262yds with 8 TD and 5 Ints, averaging 210 yds passing in those games.

Vandy had a very balanced offense. Learn up them.

What say ye B1Gs about the discrepancy against the SEC in bowl matchups? Like B1G Co-Champ playing SEC #5 (Sec West #4) and getting beaten by 42? Or that those records were compiled with teams ranked higher within their own conference than the SEC teams? I mean, if you eek out a win over the SEC #6 and you're the B12 #2 or #3, did you just disprove the quality of the SEC?

You picked out one extreme example out of 38 bowl matchups. In reality, I think the 19-19 (.500) record of B10 v. SEC teams in bowl games is a generally unbiased number. The B10 has received more BCS at-large bids than any other conference. The SEC is second. So bowl teams from thr B10 are "bumped up" one peg more than any other conference in terms of the competition they face in bowl games. Take the 2008 Capital One Bowl, for example. Unranked Michigan (8-4) was matched against #14 Florida (9-3). You can pull out any one game that looks lopsided, but if you look at all 38 bowl games, I would expect to find that the matchups as a group have been close to even. The same probably is not true for your bowl matchups with the Big East. I would expect to find bottom feeder SEC teams regularly matched against some of the best BE teams (which explains your poor record against the BE in bowl games).

To be fair, Michigan was the #2 team in the B1G that season and Florida was the #3 team in the SEC East.

I take it you don't know how good OSU's DBs are, but that's alright. As for the MSU game, Joe Bauserman played most of the game and OSU didn't have Boom Herron back yet. And the Illinois game was terrible managed and was before OSU took the reigns off Braxton and let him do his thing.

That's my point. You either have to agree that rankings are okay or support the argument in the OP. You can't play it both ways.

The point was that the #2 B10 was playing the #4 (I guess?) SEC. Sure, they had a better record and were ranked higher, but they were lower on the SEC scale. Sometimes you get an even matchup, but usually, the SEC is throwing out a team 2 spots lower in the conference than the other conference. I anticipate this changing to a degree with the realignment. Part of it was probably team availability combined w/ the SEC having more teams.
