    Fvck that pastor.

Christianity is full of closet cocksuckers

If you can't afford to tip properly, stay the fvck home and eat Lucky Charms.

    I'm looking at you, Delta.

In before USMCAG posts his butt buddy's PM on this^^ post.

  • That guy doesn't have to pay taxes and still doesn't tip properly.

I tip according to the service and if I'm drinking alcohol. I have left a $10 tip on a $12 bill. On the flip side I've also left a $1 on a $50 bill because the service sucked so bad. Gotta earn it you're not entitled.

I generally tip 20%. If the service is exceptionally poor, I won't tip, and also write the reason why on the receipt so that the person doesn't think I'm just a jerk who doesn't tip.

Gotta love someone using religion to justify being a jerk.

First time that's ever happened I'm sure.

did anyone read the article or just commenting?

From what I read the party already had an 18% gratuity added to their bill. Why is the server complaining abut not getting an additional tip beyond 18%?

You clearly didn't read the article.

    The total was $34.93.
Then, the automatic tip of $6.29 was added on to the $34.93.

So, if the pastor didn't tip at all beyond the 18%, the total should have been $41.22. Instead, he tipped at 0% and rejected the automatic gratuity.

Are you a chick or just a boss who makes chicks pay on the first date?

Note, I said "suggest" a bad tip. As much as I'd love to be a total boss that makes girls pay on first dates, I'm the one who ends up paying. I have had a girl question why I was giving a good server 20% instead of 5-10% though - never went out with that girl again.

  • But the receipt was part of a 200 dollar bill? I don't understand what the deal is? This is probably bullshit Internet stories like the Troops don't get breakfast anymore crap.

He must be a Southern Baptist, typical hypocrite.

Must be an Arkansas fan, typical redneck.

Am I doing this right? It does seem weak though to generalize a group of people, don't you think?

    http://www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/17i382/my_mistake_sir_im_sure_jesus_will_pay_for_my_rent/

    Comments explain.
    OP said:
It was only compulsory because it was a table of 20. Parties up to eight at my work may tip whatever they'd like, but larger parties receive an automatic gratuity. It's in the computer, it's not something I do.

    First comment:
    a table of 20 spent $34?

    OP responds:
No. They ran up well over 200$ before taxes or gratuity. They asked for separate checks, thinking it would get them out of the autograt, even though the same man paid for everything.
They had no problem with my service, and told me I was great. They just didn't want to pay when the time came.

Which, if true, is just a huge dick move. The waiter actually gets a negative tip, because he has to then pay taxes on that gratuity that he never got.

That is the best route, IMO.

Seems like the "pastor" was simply justifying his actions via the G card. Always infuriates me when people throw out verses/etc just to justify THEIR actions.

The worst part of the whole thing - the pastor is likely donating 10% to his own church, who then pays him back his own money as his salary!

The idea that he's giving 10% to god is complete horsecrap. He's giving 10% to himself.

I think the most infuriating example is when Christians refuse to help the less fortunate in any way, shape, or form, and justify it by saying "God helps those who help themselves." gun

    ABSOLUTELY. Burns me too.

  • To go along with my earlier post, the average salary of a pastor in the US is $86,026. Assuming he makes the average, 10% of that is $8602, or what he gives to God. The $6.29 tip would be .00007% of his salary.

Yeah, this guy is just an a$$hole.

I'm in with the 1st part, generally tipping 20%, but I have never not tipped for poor or bad service. I will always leave something and explain it to the server if needed. Sometimes it's not the server's fault, but the chef or cook's fault for not getting the food out in a timely manner. If my server is working their butt off and my food comes out cold, often that is bad management and I will still tip 20%. I worked as a server for 15 years off and on, and nothing pisses you off more than to get stiffed when you have busted your ass and given great service to that party. It will amaze you how often that happens. My local establishments that I frequent often for drinks and meals often get 30% or higher, and my service and quality goes up accordingly. I get better tables at the restaurants and stronger drinks at the bars because of it.To pull the God call out here by anyone is just cheap and embarrassing as long as they received quality service. That 18% is pretty much standard around most of the country and is a management call, and if you have an issue with it you should address it with management not the server.

Maybe he should give god a better tip if that's how he feels shrug

10% is weak. In my unscientific survey, people who tip like sh** are usually sh** human beings.

What do you think about the people that don't even tip 10% if at all? Really really sh** human beings?

10% is fine in my book. 15% if you do a good job. and 20% is you're badass.

Look, I've worked in the restaurant business. I know how hard the work is. Really. But this automatic 18-20% crap is ridiculous given what entitled pieces of crap are usually serving me my food. Want 20%? Work for it. Don't expect it.

I can count on 1 hand the number of times I have left nothing.

I certainly wouldn't do it because the food isn't great - that's not the server's fault. And most time delays are understandable too. I won't be unreasonable: if the place is busy, it's busy. For me to not tip, I would need proof that it's the server's fault and that it was something they could have done better.

For example, I was out with friends once and overheard the server making fun of one of my friends. I didn't tip and wrote that I heard him. I don't feel bad about that one bit.

My measure of a date is always how they treat the server. If they treat the server like crap or suggest a bad tip, then there won't be a 2nd date.

Wise man. Also a good indicator on hiring someone. How a person treats their server is a good indicator of how they will treat subordinates.

Yeah, my firm has declined to extend offers to summer associates in the past because of their treatment of clerical staff. Hell, I've heard of kids who didn't get jobs because they were arrogant to the server during the interview process.

I'm quite glad my parents made the effort to teach me how to behave properly in public.

They could actually do that very easily by simply revoking the outdated and ineffective tax-exempt status of religious institutions. Taxing churches puts more money in the public coffers that could go right back out to employees like police/firemen/teachers.

We both owe our parents a lot for that alone

I visit many companies in business, and I am going to make friends with the doorman, receptionist, secretary, and every person I encounter in that company. I think it's just the right thing to do, but also people will typically appreciate that you did treat their people well, and at some point you might have to ask one of those folks a favor, and it is good if you have earned the right to do so.
