SIAP: The Great Gatsby (2012) Trailer

  • I think it looks good. The music for the trailer threw me a bit, only because it doesn't fit the time period. The actual theme of the song is consistent with the theme of the book though. Thoughts?

GREAT GATSBY Trailer (2012) Movie HD

Subscribe to TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/sxaw6h Subscribe to COMING SOON: http://bit.ly/H2vZUn GREAT GATSBY Trailer (2012) Movie HD From the uniquely imaginative mind of writer/producer/director Baz Luhrmann comes the new big screen adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby. The filmmaker will create his own distinctive visual interpretation of the classic story, bringing the period to life in a way that has never been seen before, in a film starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. "The Great Gatsby" follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles. • I'm not a huge Toby Maguire fan but Leo has turned into a bad ass and one of my favorite actors (who knew such a thing could happen after Titanic) and I love the book. I'll definitely see it.

Hate Toby Maguire and this new chick, Carey Mulligan, is definitely not my favorite. Don't find her attractive, hated her in the new Wall Street.

Still, movie looks cool and the book is awesome. With Dicaprio headlining it, movie could be pretty good.

My sentiments on both of them... but I'd be a lot more harsh on Toby Maguire.

  • I absolutely love the book, and I think the 1974 film version with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow is great. I'd be willing to give this one a shot though. I think there's a lot of potential with DiCaprio as Jay and Maguire as Nick. I also think Isla Fisher sounds promising as Myrtle.

From Season 2, Episode 5 'Neighbors'. Blurb: Vince finally gets his first Variety cover with the news that he has landed the role of Aquaman... unfortunately, the deal hasn't actually been inked. This is Baz Luhrman who game us Moulin Rouge. The music is probably from the film, not just the trailer.

Zero chance I see this in theaters, maybe on HBO some day.

  • Not a great fan of some of the "talent" either, but looks like it could be cool. A friend my wifes did hair and make up for it said it was great to film. Said Australia was amazing, Hopefully it'll transition.

Yeah, but he also gave us the modern re-imagining of Romeo+Juliet, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. He does things differently than everyone else, which makes me more likely to check it out, not less likely.

Same here. When I found out they were making this I was not expecting this crap.

That story doesn't need to be updated with trendy BS like Moulin Rouge.

That's what Gatsby's parties were like though. They were grandiose and everybody was there. His parties were the most glamorous thing in New York City.

But they didn't look like a live action version of a French cartoon. The 20's here were a culturally distinct time period, I just don't like seeing it updated with contemporary crap like that.
