Heard he stole all of Tyler Bray's barbells. Since they were unused, the value was high enough to constitute a felony charge.

  • Sad, dude is a really tremendous prospect.

The Vols are just an utter clown show. Dooley just hasn't been able to get a grasp on things.

This is one of those head scratchers. Makes you realize that despite talking to these kids and building a relationship with some of them, we really don't know them. He always seemed like a really good kid, comes from a good family. I would've never guessed he'd be a guy in trouble.

Could just be one mistake I guess but a surprising one nontheless.

Unfortunately this is one that may not be able to be answered with a 2 game suspension and stadium steps. Stealing from teammates on a felony level may be an automatic dismissal. He's an NFLer.

He is an inch taller, 20lb heavier Jay Rome who UGA fans are jacked about.

Do you really think that? My high school played against him and I don't remember him being that good. And thanks to the Vol fan that gave me a downvote on something that would have been posted regardless.

Big men grow into their body. A 6'6 240 high school TE will rarely dominate. He's gotten to UTk and at 270 he's filled out and his bone structure has set and he's looking like he could be seriously dominant as a Jr and Sr.

Their entire athletic department was run by a very nice man who sucked at everything except fund raising for a number of years. The football team was in total disrepair when Lane left. I mean total. Dooley is merely piecing it back together and then they'll fire him and get a big name. The boosters have been contributing to a pot that has gotten rather large.

They'll get a Gruden type IYAM.

    fsufsu

  • Lane recruited him, right?

  • He think he might have played OT in high school. Plus it doesn't really matter how you play in high school. My brother and his friends played against Dontari Poe and he was horrible and now a first round pick. Also Alex Hurst was completely dominated by our DE and now he is an AA at LSU.

That team was a mess before Lane...Fulmer was just mailing it in...and he let the thugs run rampant.

Of course, Lane leaving after one one season didn't help...but the issues were there, long before.

Tone down the insecurity bro, no one pinned the issues on Lane. He dipped out and Tennessee was a disaster after that.

  • This won't be a big loss for UT. Clear was terrible this spring and 3rd on their depth chart. He didn't get to go where he wanted because several schools told him he was an OT, instead of a TE. (UF for instance)

His hands and feet are terrible for a TE, but very good for a developing OT. This hurts more for image than it does production for UT. Kid stole from their kicker Polardy.. The UT fans are upset with Polardy because he had a chance to drop the charges he filed and decided not to. I say good from him.

This story started leaking two weeks ago and all the UT fans were calling into local radio talking about how pathetic they were for speculating on something that wasn't even true. Two weeks later Clear is in Jail..

Dooley has ZERO control of that team. The depth and experience is slightly better than it was, but they've already quit on him. Once a coach loses his team, it's over. There's a reason nearly every asst coach left last year, most of lateral jobs.

No insecurity at all...maybe you're not, but believe me...we heard from the Vol fans, swiftly and aggressively, that we could all die in hellish fires along with our coach and his family.

Never got a quarter of that much hate and ill wishes from any of our rivals, much less a fanbase that we have nothing to do with, or care about other than admiring their program for impressive scheduling OOC.

  • What JUCO is he going to? I liked his potential at OT better than at TE. Athletic OT’s> Big TE’s.

They didn't really use him all that well at Central. But if you watched him as a blocker, watched the way he moved, he was a stud. His hands are outstanding and he dominated camps at that size. I would've said he's a sure-fire OT because of his frame and athleticism if his hands were so dang impressive.

You're going to have to show me somewhere credible that says he's shown bad hands and feet for a TE. I've seen that kid make some unbelievable catches at that size.

Maybe has more upside at OT but he's a scary TE prospect too.

Forget it. He's not coming up with anything. Just a homer.

    nycvol010

  • What does being homer have to do with this? He doesn't play for UF, why would I care about their third string TE? I even said it wouldn't hurt UT production wise in my post, which is the opposite of what you'd see in a "homer" post. This isn't some new idea about Clear not being a slam dunk prosect as a TE.

. Go watch UT's spring game to see how many drops Clear had. Watch their other two TE's to see how much better they were than Clear. Read their spring practice reviews. Hell, look at their depth chart. Rivera and Downs looked really good all spring (Downs was a surprise) while Clear wasn't very good. He's third on the depth chart and thats before Merideth arrives. The kid was on his way to OT and probably should have been there in the first place.

Good looking big athlete, but not a TE, unless you're talking traditional inline blocking TE. The dude wanted to be a pass catching TE, UT gave him that option.. At the end of the day, it's not going to be a big loss for UT, but its just an opinion. Not sure how anyone can see any homer in that.
