Saban

  • Nick Saban is perfect for Alabama..and the SEC. I could think of several other coaches that would be a better fit for USC...and that is no disrepect for Nick, I like the guy...as a coach.

To the guy who claims USC is surrounded by a fortress...wrong. I would bet he couldn't sniff his way within 100 miles of campus...the acceptance rate has fallen to 18%, which will be reflected in the 2013 statistics.

Oh I'm sorry, when did I sign up for an academic discussion forum?

This is about football. Academics, sadly, mean very little to most recruits.

    It's cool to know though.

Seriously, she brings it up in every thread that has anything to do with SC or someone from SC.

They are not the only team in the nation with good academics or that has former players coming back to watch the team, or just see how everything is going.

I never said other universities do not have good academics or former players not being loyal to their alma mater anywhere else...but YOU PEOPLE are the ones that are always yapping about your game day atmosphere being soooo far superior, how much you live and die over football, and how recruits will be swayed by that atmosphere to commit to your university. Football is your religion, after all...the west coast could care less..

In spite of our supposed "laid back" and insipid regard for football...as y'all claim, our players are just as ardently loyal - if not more, to their alma mater, "crappy bandwagon" fans and all.

I know his name gets thrown around often for top notch jobs, but.... After a NC this year, and Kiffin sucking next year, USC will can him. USC is a powerfull place, wear pockets run deep. Nick seems like a guy who loves challenges, after dominating the SEC, & USC needing a coach, they will go after Saban. It would be his last hurrah, and he would come to USC. Off sanctions, the challenge would be to.rebuild the mess Kiffin left. I could see it, LA is 10xx the place Tuscaloosa is, it would be an offer to good for Nick to turn down.

He's not leaving. Secondly, everyone throws around the argument that its easy to win at Bama because they have a lot of selling points for receuits. How is winning at USC a challenge when they fall in the same category? He'll have them in the NC game playing Bama in two years. Then what? His legacy will be here and his tenure will extend much further than outsiders think. We've just begun.

Oh please...you people don't say we're horrible CFB fans? Bandwagon? Or your gameday atmosphere is the best? I've been to a few SEC games....different, yes.

Don't play the fool, you know damn good and well all of you say that, you all take credit for conference wins - SEC group think, so take credit (or slam) for what the majority of you people say..here, and come tripping over your huge egos to say on our board.

Do you people, or not, claim the best game day atmosphere - because you're loud and drunk (been there to see that), claim you're the most ardent fans, claim that the west coast is filled with bandwagon fans?

Just pointing out, that even though the majority of you people in the southeast have expressed all that - ad nauseum, our former players have the same love and passion - if not more, for their alma mater as your players do...even with all your rabid fans, loud stadiums, and your adoration of a single sport, which you worship as your religion.

The only one saying it, is an idiot that gets dogged for his idiotic threads on fighton247. no

Anyone with a brain knows Saban is where he should be, and he would never put up with the media fishbowl in L.A, or the bluehairs that make up the big money boosters.

USC is playing Oregon in the Coliseum, not oregon.

j/k Linda. Calm down. You are getting a little carried away and that's usually not like you. No one has said USC sucks. He pointed out that we get it and that he comes here for football talk.

And Comptons only about 14 miles from USC's campus. In a Saban Mercedes, it's possible.

Only if by helicopter. I'm about ten minutes from Compton and on a good day I can get to USC in fifteen minutes.

I'm in between Compton and downtown L.A. btw.

Sounds like college football to me. I get what your saying. Listen, all colleges who take pride in their football program are like the aforementioned. I'm sure u say the same things about that other school in California "UCLA" that you say about us.

Bi-polar. Expect either a thread how good Leonard Williams is or how bad Matt Barkley is tomorrow depending on how the UO game goes tomorrow.

Actually, most linemen on the West Coast care about academics. Look at last year with what Stanford pulled off.

Impressive indeed, but like USC, Stanford has the benefit of being a private institution and the ability to quickly and progressively alter their academic standards.

Agreed, but the prestige of that degree helped bring those kids to Stanford.

Lots of kids out west care what kind of weight their degree holds.

While Peat and Murphy are two guys I'd love to have at USC, too many guys here simply don't take advantage of the education they receive. We only graduate around 60% while Stanford is in the 80% range.

I don't kid myself thinking a lot of these guys want their degrees. There should be some sort of minor league system as an alternative to college for breeding future NFLers.
