Saban in favor of a 9th conference game

  • Macdaddy7930 said...

Some teams would, but Saban loves the kickoff games. Can be used as a solid recruiting tool.

Bama hasn't finished their '13 OOC schedule yet (outside of VT and Chattanooga).

Teams like Alabama should keep one marquee nonconference game but teams like UGA will have a uninteresting nonconference schedule since they play tech every year.

None conference games will make the SEC seem much tighter than just eight. Hope Alabama will continue to schedule one marquee non conference game.

lol, keep hoping. Nobody will if 9 games goes through. Why add a marquee OOC game when you just added a marquee game with a 9th SEC team?!?

Don't have to eliminate the good ones if teams would just drop Southeastern Illinois State Tech from their schedules.

They won't though. Lose another home game for a big OOC game you may well lose and then still have to run through 9 SEC teams? Pitch that to the ADs and you'll be looking at 12 Yao-faces.

UF with FSU and USC with Clemson, too. There are a multitude of reasons that this is unlikely to happen anytime soon. Maybe if we expand to 13 or 14 regular season games.

IMO, this is the best idea for scheduling right now I have yet seen. They call it "the roommate switch". Very interesting, 8 game conference schedule, we keep divisions, keeps the vast majority of rivalries intact and playing every year and instead of once every 6 years, you play every other team once every other year.

Since we control SEC scheduling according to USC fans, UGA would get a 2nd cupcake West team instead of Bama, LSU, or Arky.

Even as stupid as that logic would be, even for someone that doesn't know how the SEC works, why in the hell would they play one West team twice a year not to mention two?

Dude it's a previously scheduled rotation in the SEC when it comes to cross divisional game. There are a few exceptions for teams like UGA, TN, Bama and AU because we have yearly cross divisional rivalries. Still the other teams that we play are rotated at two years in and four years off. Not sure how that is going to change now that another team has been added as far as the rotation, BUT your comment still made no sense.

UGA is in the East so why the hell would they play a team in the West twice in the same year much less two?
