This is the first I have ever even heard about it being considered. If he goes anywhere it's going to be to the Browns and that is a stretch at this point per NFL insiders. The Eagles aren't going to give him the control he would want. I've heard Chip Kelly and John Gruden being mentioned to them. I've also heard Bill O'Briens name mentioned. He very well could be being considered though.

I read a quote where saban said himself that his dream job was to be the head coach of the Eagles.... and since the position is open, he could have said YES!

  • The Eagles is a great job. It would be tempting for ANY coach

Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.

Yes it's true. Gruden will be his assistant. Both will earn $15 mil per.

I've never heard that either. I don't know who he roots for in the NFL though, or who his childhood team was. Maybe it is, who knows. I've just never seen his name even mentioned with that job.

I have heard that 90% of the people in the NFL doesn't think that the NFL is a good fit for him. The Browns owner wants him, but he's a Tennessee grad so no big shock there. I'm not saying that you are wrong, just saying that this is news to me. If "a lot of people are saying it" like you claim, I would have heard it before now. It's not like it's been a mystery that Reid was going to be gone.

The people im hearing from are bama fans that I worked with before. They showed me on a website (cant recall but it was a eagle site) where him and the eagles have been in touch for the past 3 weeks. What else does he have to prove in college ball. The years he didnt succeed in the NFL alone should make him want to jump there and prove people wrong. ALOT of owners willing to pay big bucks for him, ESP. the Eagles. Im going to try and find that quote and that website.

You could be right, hell if I know. He really doesn't have anything else to prove in college football unless he wants to win more than any other coach which would be in his grasp if he beats ND. I have only heard Gruden, Kelly and O'Brien being mentioned with that job at this point. I find it hard to believe that he's been in talks with them for 3 weeks though. If the Eagles is his dream job, I wish him the best. He just doesn't seem like the guy that would let something like this affect him from getting his fourth national championship.

I'm sure that Mal Moore has been in talks with other coaches just in case he does bolt to the NFL, so I don't think it would take more than a day or two to get someone to replace him. Trust me that we will be able to replace him with a top notch coach fairly quickly. It's because of Saban that we will be able to cherry pick who we want.

I have been preparing myself for him going to the NFL for about a month now. I would hate to see it, but I am not going to be shellshocked if he does.

I have no idea really. If I had to guess:

    Bill O'Brien
    Jon Gruden
    Gary Patterson
    Chris Peterson
Kirby Smart might get the nod

You also can't count out a stud coordinator in the NFL or one of the coaches recently fired.

That is a complete guess on my part though. I have no inside info whatsoever.

Edit: Saban would probably actually help in the process of getting his replacement as well.

I admitted that I had no idea. I'm just making guesses. I actually think that he's thinking about making the jump a lot more than other Bama fans will admit. You don't think that he's even thinking about it?

  • I think Chip Kelly would be a dumb choice... need a defensive guy.

    Fuzz

  • There sure are going to be a lot of Fans of rival teams going to be disappointed when Saban is still the coach next season. Just Dumb. Can't beat him so just hope he leaves for another job. Just weak...

  • It was funny at first. I won't say that he isn't but I think its very unlikely. I wouldn't hire new staff and make a jump to the league or another school a week later. Fans are just going to have to accept that this will occur at the end of every season until he does decide to leave or retire.

    I hope your right honestly.

You also have a point about the rumors. I think a couple of NFL teams contacted him after last season they just never got as much smoke. Pete Carroll was brought up every offseason as well. I know that he finally made the jump, but those rumors were out there every season for about six years before he finally left, and that was right before the inevitable sanctions hit USC.

Exactly, and Carroll might still be at USC if it wasn't for that.

I have stated before that he would be my first choice to replace Saban if he did decide to go pro. What he did at PSU last season was awesome.
