LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.- The nation's top cornerback, Vernon Hargreaves III, had a showing worthy of his lofty rating during the first day of Gridiron Kings.

  • It's crazy that Quin Blanding may be a top 3-5 prospect nationally and No. 3 in the state of Virginia for 2014.

Kid seems crazy talented. Anywhere he goes his name is all over the place.

Blanding is interesting to from a future body type standpoint. He has the frame to carry 220+ in time. He's 197-200 right now with a long ways to go until he hits a college S&C program.

  • Hargreaves and McQuay just suck up real estate at safety. They make covering hash to boundary look like a walk in the park.

Throw Matthew Thomas' wingspan and athletic ability in at LB in the middle of the field, and it's easy to see with the Southeast team surrendered one TD in three games today.

Anthony Poindexter coaching Quin Blanding. That would be pretty sweet. That would be like Ronnie Lott coaching Ed Reed (if Ronnie Lott had coached Ed Reed.)

  • How did Ryan Green look? I'm kind of surprised to not see his name as he has been superb at every one of these events

  • It's surprising to see Marcell Harris not considering the Tide a little more than he is. He has two former teammates already on campus. Also, I think Bama can lock up Matthew Thomas if we can get he and his mom on campus. Which will be easier said than done. She wants him in Miami.

Think there is more of a family draw to Florida State that what people know with Thomas.

I don't see him leaving the state, at this point.

Green looked explosive as always. He didn't have nearly as many touches as he did at The Opening when Max Browne was running clear outs and hitting him perfectly in stride.

Green had a terrific over the shoulder catch on a deep ball. Was juggling it and it probably shouldn't have counted (didn't have possession as he went out of bounds), but it was a terrific grab and he ran through the ball. It impressed me because it's not the type of pass a RB normally makes - a throw QB's rarely make to RB's.

  • Crazy how Stevens went from unknown/unrated earlier this year to the best WR at this sort of competition.

He's shown very good speed so far here for sure.

Crazy to think how we will get 2 of the top 3 players in the country next year. Add in a few of those other studs from Va in 2014 and Payne from DC and this defense will be sick.

You do know Harris just transfered into Dr. Phillips, so he never played HCD and Dee Hart. Also Matthew Thomas will not leave the state like most people have been saying, but Bama fans still think they have a chance for some reason.
