That's what i'm saying. A-Now, despite being set during Vietnam, isn't really a "war film." The real motifs/themes of the story have nothing to do with the war.

There's no good way to make into a movie, but some WW1 trench warfare had to be scary as hell. You live in a puddle, if you dare show your head above the bunker you'd be shot. Add in chemical warfare, gangreen, and trench foot and there had to be some gnarly images.

I agree with thin red line, but when my pop told me stories, it was A LOT different. Dad was a tank commander and was on the tarmac twice, but was recalled and never went to Vietnam, thank God....
I feel for those people, man.... Used to have a regular where I bartended that was a vet and he was beyond shot. Very sad....

We Were Soldiers sucked IMO, but The Great Escape is an absolute classic. I never even saw Valkyrie.
I'm really surprised no one has pulled out Pearl Harbor yet...
