The Uncertainty of the sanctions that may have been coming hurt worse than the coaching. Most of the recruits that spoke up said first and foremost the bowl ban would hurt and until we got that letter from the NCAA that we would not be charged with LOIC or failure to monitor which are the only charges that carry a bowl ban we couldn't tell them that was not the case. Most of the damage was done by then though. As we go forward though no I think this starts to fade away you have reaped the benies of that this year .I can say with a great deal of confidence going forward that will not be the case definitely feel good about next year.

Well, we were talking about this recruiting class not future recruiting classes. And I disagree. IMO, the uncertainty surrounding the OSU coaching situation is clearly hurting your recruiting this year.

Actually, it's a compliment to get flamed. It means we have won the debate and the other side can't come up with anything intelligent to say. The only thing they can do is call people names or throw out obviously stupid comments to try to get under our skin.
Trust me, if OSU wasn't concerned about recruiting this year and what Hoke is doing in AA, they wouldn't even be over here discussing it. Nothing proves that OSU is worried better than how much time and energy they spend talking about us. If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was listening to Sparty fans.

If the sanctions aren't bad and if OSU makes a quick decision about the HC position soon thereafter, OSU's chances with any number of prospects will improve. The uncertainty is killing them. Kids have no idea who the HC is, let alone who their position coaches will be. They don't know if the offensive and defensive schemes/philosophies will change. It's just a lot to ask of an elite kid with plenty of good alternatives to overlook.

Without getting into a debate on possible sanctions, removing the interim tag from Fickel accomplished nothing. He has a two year contract at $775,000 per year. That is not the deal you give a big time head coach. It's the deal you give a coach you want to be able to terminate inexpensively at the end of the season if it suits you. Recruits are smarter than you think.

What does a recruit care about how much a coach makes? If that is so important to you, how much does Hoke make...and does that amount make him a "big time coach" in your/or/ recruits' eyes?
If not, maybe Hoke's w/l record might?....hmmmm?
