Schools that don't violate NCAA rules

  • I notice that Ohio State, Miami, USC, North Carolina are currently under NCAA sanctions/investigations ... while in the past Florida State, Alabama, and others were in similar trouble.

    But Vanderbilt, Duke, Stanford and Northwestern have never been involved in scandals such as free tattoos, prostitution, free shoes, free strip clubs, free housing and cars, free whatever ...

    Why?? Is it recruiting the wrong student-athletes?? Is it hiring the wrong coaches?? Is it the fault of the boosters?

    Should Ohio State go after Northwestern and Duke recruits? Should Florida State, Miami, North Carolina and Alabama go after Duke and Vanderbilt recruits? Should USC go after Stanford recruits?

    Depends on what pressure the staffs are under to win. High pressure yields bringing in slightly more questionable kids and allowing slightly more shady behavior in general. When you bring kids in from the hood and make smoking weed a "4 times and you're out" kind of offense they are bound to keep it tooooo real at some point.

  • PSU and Stanford are the only two schools that have never had major violations or points shaving scandals. Unfortunately, we now have child rape scandal instead. So just Stanford is left. banghead

There is something going on illegal at every program, all it will take is one player to become disgruntle or a journalist with an axe to grinde. I'm not saying its with the staff, you guys have crazy boosters like the other schools. Now there is this new BCS playoff....Just becareful throwing rocks pal.

    to be fair, we've really only been trying for the last 15 years. before that, the athletic department was a trainwreck. texas hasn't always been the biggest and richest - not by a longshot.

    i'll agree though - lotta ugly in the 80s and 90s.

  • Everybody does something... I was on the track team in 2007 when we got our title stripped and I didn't even know we were cheating. So it can be hidden very well until somebody pops up and has some information. I doubt Duke with its basketball program is the model of excellence but everyone does something because otherwise you are letting yourself fall behind.

    17 years straight and look how bad it hurt us. After Gene left, we were stupid to hire from within and got Dubose who slept with his secretary and was terrible, had 1 good year(1999 i believe), Dennis Fran. coulda been good if he woulda stayed but wifey wanted to go back home to texas so off they went in the middle of the night. So in comes mister fabulous Mike Price who loves women! So then we get UA legacy Mike Shula and he had no toughness and brought us even further down.

    During all that we were on probation for stupid shit and couldn't keep clean. I blame that all in the man in charge! and you guys woud all agree with me on that one!

    Yes our past has sucked mid 90's til 2007! A little over a decade but since Saban, how much trouble have we been in?

    2 titles in 5 years? Not even close to slowing down. AU, UT, UF, Arky, UGA, everyone but LSU is falling behind, way behind.

    Stanford runs one of the most successful athletic programs in the country..hands down, and never committed a major NCAA infraction.

    Not trying to get into your excitement about your coach or your team but usually violations come after the season so if Saban gets caught it would not be during the year he does. No trouble so far is what you can say... And don't jump the gun with this slowing down thing... We though Bobby was going to win everything. Every great coach loses some. That's college football. If he wins another one it would break a trend. I don't doubt he is capable just don't assume Bama will dominate just because of the coach and recruiting classes...
