Doesn't SC have good T&F? Stanford has good baseball I think. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they are decent

I don't think we are supposed to discuss track and field ITT. I forgot about Stanford. Maybe a few baseball nattys and conf titles

Well USC has the most nattys in baseball and ucla in basketball. Of course we have USC FB. That leaves Arizona with prolly quite a few basketball conf titles. Maybe Washington for football or az state for baseball

I forgot that AZ has a few nattys in baseball too, so prolly a few conf titles too. AZ prolly comes in third in the PAC but they are hurt because they only joined the conf in the 70s

  • As said here, baseball should be replaced with hockey for Big Ten schools. Sorry Nebraska.

Haha. Iowa would enter the conversation if wrestling is included - easily the best program in recent history and it's not even close (20+ national championships since 1975).

Oh yea, Iowa just won another B1G championship also. PSU is making a push recently though, back to back natties in 2011 and 2012.

  • Nice stories about Skip. The man is one of the greatest coaches of all-time, very intimidating guy too. 5 championships in 10 years in Baseball is a very, very difficult task.

And LSU is the only team with double digit SEC titles in Football, Basketball and Baseball.

Northerners can drop baseball and add hockey or Lacrosse if you want.. But the SEC, Big 12, ACC and PAC all have decent baseball history so those conferences have baseball as a top 3 sport.

Yeah USC for football and baseball. Ucla for basketball and baseball. Have to throw in AZ for basketball and I think a solid baseball history. Oregon is becoming elite in all 3 but doesn't have a long history to back it.

Lacrosse? Even less Big Ten schools play LAX than hockey. I wouldn't consider that sport major at all. Hockey, on the other hand, actually generates solid revenue and may even turn a profit.

Lax is more of a northeastern/eastern sport for now.

Correct... North Carolina and up the east coast. The midwest really doesn't care much about LAX. Although, it looks like the Big Ten is thinking about making a push in the sport.

Plus, Penn State has the most National Championships in all sports of any Big Ten team since joining the conference. If you are talking about success as an athletic program as a while, PSU wins hands down.

Isn't Michigan in second since PSU joined? PSU has 22 since 1993 and UM 8. Pretty crazy (although 10/22 are fencing).

Wait, nvm, OSU has has 20 in that time (13 in synchronized swimming, which I didn't realize was an NCAA sport and 3 more in fencing, like PSU).

Yeah, the synch swimming thing is odd, just as is fencing, IMO. Is there a quality pool of opponents in those sports? Like more than 10 schools who legitimately put in the resources to win?

    ACC

Miami has a very solid football and baseball history. Basketball is playing great this year.

Not sure if any other team qualifies.

Highly doubt it. Looks like fencing has 25 schools and synchronized swimming 3 (OSU, Stanford and Canisius, with OSU having 25 team members vs. less than 10 at the other schools) if what I found is correct. Considering that PSU and OSU win almost all of the titles in those sports, I would guess there are very few schools with a real shot to win those titles.

I expect us to win our third in a row this year too.

I honestly don't know how you can have an NCAA sponsered National Championship with such small numbers. Pretty laughable.
