Was just going to post about this. Couple that participated in the Biosphere 2 experiment, are planning to put their name in for this. Can't say that they didn't live life to the fullest, if it somehow ends up happening.
Speaking of the Biosphere experiment, anyone hearing anything about another go in the future. Turns out is pretty difficult to sustain a stable atmosphere suitable for humans, but its been about 20 years...

I disagree on the new jobs being created thing. Some of that will occur but simply put the robotics revolution will eliminate the need for humans to work.

You are WAY underestimating the want of humans to have every aspect of life automatized and underestimating the want of humans to have a huge gaping hole in their life where a job should be. There are many aspects about it that would need to be answered. It's more likely that they would be more inconspicuous rather than ubiquitous.

I dont disagree. But the industrial and then post-industrial revolutions were defined by a few things: reduced hours, increased pay, improved working conditions. Robotics will be the most dramatic shift yet.
Do you really think we will still log 10-15 hours a week, mean household income rises 65% lets say, and we work from home? I guess that could be in. I just think people wont have to work anymore.

I have a personal belief that we will experience 2-3 major breakthroughs in solar energy between now and 2035 and by then Solar will provide nearly 90% of the world's energy needs. The techs will improve so exponentially and when the smart grid is global the massive solar fields in Africa can turn on a light in Dallas, TX for a fraction of the current price.
By 2035 the entire facades of buildings will be coated with ultra-efficient solar membranes. All our cities will experience massive energy surpluses .

Are there any good articles on Brazil and what's going on there? They are spending billions and billions on their physical and technological infrastructure leading up to WC14 and Summer 2016 Olympiad. I know they are aiming to have someone who is a parapalegic kick off the tournament using an exoskeleton.

It appears that as of now 3G is elite in Brazil. Only issue is that 4G will be a demanded standard next summer. They have 18 months to leap forward 5 years in broadband tech.

Don't expect too much. Watch the documentary Manda Bala. Brazil is a strong up and coming economy, but still full of corruption.

Too much money in developing the country. If you want to say that when all the white tourists leave will the money get split up evenly? Hell no, it's like Chicago down there. But they will get a lot done because them white folk got credit cards and big ass smart phones. Next summer it wont be huge yet but Google glass wearers will be uploading hours and hours of consecutive HD/3D video. Video streaming will reach 1/2 an exabit demands i bet. That's like a spinning disc on a power meter to the phone companies.

Love listening to Ray Kurzweil. He's so conservative, yet realistic, he can make the coming innovations seem feasible to the simpler minded linear thinking man while not betraying the excitement of those who are more aggressive in their expectations.
