I am so pumped about solar. I really believe, despite no one really agreeing, that within 20 years the whole world can run off solar. I just dont think it will be a linear growth. We will have 1-3 breakthroughs and between being able to cheaply outfit most buildings in the world we will also have the massive energy smart grid distributing excess. Would be awesome!

All this stuff seem like pretty low tech stop gaps IMO. I think if we are able to save this planet for us to live on going forward more than another 100 years or so we will need to go 100% renewable/clean and then utilize nano-disassemblers to deconstruct CO2 in the atmosphere to harvest the carbon for our own use.

I hope we put almost all of our efforts in those type sciences towards solving the organ issue. We need to be 3D printing kidneys, hearts, everything within 10 years. Just seems all too realistic now.

Interesting use of vertical space instead of horizontal space for solar.

Automation will be a massive energy saver over the road from compact cars to 18 wheelers. Imagine every vehicle on the road seamlessly and continually integrating the movements of every vehicle so that NO unnecessary braking or acceleration. Can't wait for 3-4 years from now when automated cars start flooding the roads and then 2-3 years later there will be a push for human driven cars to be all but illegal.

You say this in response to me saying what I said everytime. My initial thoughts:

1. No one will give a shit what you want, just being honest.. If efficiency and safety improve by orders of magnitude through automation (absolutely will happen) then no one will care that you like to drive.

2. Some roads will always be available for human drivers to enjoy. But keep your limited abilities off the high way.

The issue is that as automated cars flood the roads safety and efficiency will change rapidly. But as if the computers could complain they will give feedback essentially saying, that the levels of efficiency, speed, and safety that "they" can provide are extremely limited by human drivers being present. They can't account for our limited cognitive power, emotional decisions, etc. Whenever every vehicle on the road becomes automated wrecks will never happen again, speeds will climb and climb and efficiency will go through the roof.

You saying, "but I just love to feel the car purr when I press the gas" will be infinitely illegitimate in the face of those gains.
