It's completely subjective but it's funny how fast it's dismissed by a bunch of message board guys who's played with neither or was in grade school when one of them played! Not saying either was better than the other but I'd believe Pippen before einstein. That's just me though!

To add on further, he also stated that when players are on the court with LBJ they all become scoring threats... To hear him imply that LBJ makes his teammates better than MJ did is really surprising to me...
When he was on NBA TV, after Dallas swept LA, he stated another "telling" comment... He said that Phil Jackson was so great because he taught him, Pippen, how to play alongside MJ... He said that it wasnt always easy play with MJ but Phil helped him out alot in doing so...
Did these guys have problems? Ive heard plenty of MJ stories... For example him punching teammates in the face during practice... But I never thought anything of it because its MJ...
Im not a Lebron fan in the least, I actually got DWade over him at the moment due to Wade's ring...
But, the Heat are VERY good and unless CP3 teams up with Dwight Howard, they just might win 6-7 in a row...
He might overtake MJ at that point... JMHO

I can't believe this hasn't been posted yet, but Scottie Pippen said on Mike and Mike this morning, on ESPN, that Michael Jordan is the best scorer to ever play the game. Lebron James is the best player to ever play the game. That's just crazy talk. MJ is the best scorer and player to ever play basketball.

I was in 10th grade when Jordan retired so I remember him very well. I tend to think those who agree with that statement have never watched basketball or never watched Jordan play.
Anytime a former pro player, in any sport, plays the "Well you never played" card he has lost the argument.

That is surprising. I believe Lebron is very good player as well and can be in the Top 5 when it's all said and done, but he also didn't play against Magic's Lakers, Bird's Celtics and, Isaiah's Pistons. But to say that Lebron is the best ever is pretty funny.
This whole ordeal wouldn't have been brought up if Pippen had clarified what he meant but he didn't. To be honest, I think Lebron could be no higher than 2 unless he goes out and wins 7 or 8 rings like you stated. He's already 0-1. MJ never lost a finals.

I was in college when MJ first won a title. I have no idea what motivated Pippen to say what he did. I don't know if there has been a player in NBA history that was able to take a game over like MJ. I love how guys are now trying to compare Dirk to Bird. It's just like LeBron now! Who else can score consistently for Dallas? Just like the Celtics, LeBron has plan A and B. Who'd MJ have besides Pippen? Kerr? Cartwright? Harper? LeBron has maybe the second, if not a definitive top five player in the league, and has proved this post season that he can dominate a fourth quarter! Does it make him better than Jordan? I'd say no but it's ridiculous to go rings on a player in a team sport!

I will start my post by saying Jordan at this point is the greatest player ever....
But, when you bring the rings argument into it, I don't really agree. Between Jordans 3-peats the Bulls went 55-27 which shows that he had a great supporting cast because even without MJ they won 55 games. w/o LeBron the Cavs won 19 and are in the Lottery. Many will say "They lost alot of other players.... West, suspended and didn't play much of LeBron's final season. Shaq, played 20 games with cavs no real impact made them worse IMO missed tons of easy shots and clogged the lane. Mo Williams, he was on the roster until February Cavs actually improved after his departure.
LeBron took a lottery worthy roster to an NBA finals in 07, and to the 1 seed in '10. He is a great player, anyone who denies that is a 100% moron. LeBron is a great player on both ends of the floor. He makes anyone on his team a threat to score because of his playmaking abilities.
Many will say LeBron left to team up because he couldn't do it by himself... Well no one wins a title by themselves. Jordan-Pippen, Shaq-Kobe, Kobe-Gasol, and many others. No one was expected to win it by themselves why should LeBron have those same expectations.
LeBron is the most versatile player the league has seen, even against Magic, he can guard anyone 1-5 and play anywhere from PG to Center. If you don't think Miami is 100% LeBron's team you haven't watched the playoffs, he has been nothing but clutch and ran the offense the entire 4th qtr in every game so far.
Anyone that says he isn't or won't be in the Top 10 greatest players, and better than Kobe imo, is judging him by the decision to leave Cleveland and not what he does on the floor. If I was him, I would have left cleveland the first chance I got, he gave them 3 extra years than he had to, they didn't give him the tools he needed so he left.
Right now Jordan is the greatest, but if LeBron can get himself some rings he will definitely deserve to be in the argument.

You make a lot of good points
I just can't get over the fact he quit on his team, that is something Jordan would never do
Plus no things are going good, I want to see him face adversity and rise past it, he does that and I will take notice
JMO but as great as LeBron is he will never match Jordan's legend, just can't see it happening cause even with all that talent I just don't see the same drive to be the best and the desire to stay on top once you reach the top of the mountain.

Heard that but you never quit and it fell apart cause the leader quit, once he quit they all followed
Jordan would never allow that to happen under any circumstance, its not in his DNA
Like I said, I just wanna see LeBron deal with adversity the right way, that is not only the true test of a great athlete but a great man.
And what can you really do ? well you just have to keep battling, take the loss like a man and place the blame on yourself, something he didn't do.
Not the kind of leader I want, he still has plenty of time to grow though no doubt
