    VanGorder is the equilizer to Saban.

    We needed an enforcer on the staff and we got one. Auburn will return to being Auburn. By that I mean our defense is going to be straight up disgusting and our offense is about to start knocking the hell out of folks again.Chizik is not the same, something is different about him, I can tell by the way he walks and addresses people. Chizik has a major chip on his shoulder from last year. Workouts are very intense, players are making huge gains in strength. This year we may win 8-9 games but you will see a much more physical approach. Think 1980's... yep, the Iron Bowl is about to become one of the most intense games of the season...

  • We've won 48 games the past 4 years with 2 NCs. We will likely be top 5 again this season while making it 4 out of 5 against you guys. Forgive me if recruiting doesn't really mean much to me. You can find many Bama fans that think losing a player like Foster spells doom for Bama football over on BOL. I'm not in that group. He should help you guys keep it within 4 TDs though. Good get.

    Chizik has the same number of SEC and national championships as Saban after 3 years and only two or three fewer victories.

    Saban won 10 games in his 4th year and I believe Chizik will likely be around that number during his fourth year.

    If the recruits live up to the hype and develop like you would expect, I also believe his 5th year could easily be Chizik's best and most talented team, even better than the team who won the national championship in 2010. Getting Reuben Foster will only add to that team

No reason to be as bad as you were last year. Winning is what matters. Recruiting stars sell subscriptions but they aren't everything. We have plenty of talent at Bama and our best player in the secondary and on the OL were both ranked 3 star prospects and were unranked. I've stopped watching stars and rankings...Bama will field a top 5 defense because of our coach. We will compete for our 3rd title in 4 years. This is as good as it gets in CFB as a fan.

    I do think Foster is a great prospect though. Excellent get for AU. Wish the kid good luck...except against Bama.

  • In the end we are both better off for the swap. UA needed a running back worse than AU and AU needed a linebacker worse than UA.

    There is 1 BIG difference in the two situations: Saban set it up when AU couldn't react and get a replacement. If Foster had done it on signing day how would you have felt?

    5-7 was a pretty good assessment of the quality of the 2011 AU football team. You pulled out close wins against USU, MSU, and USCe. You were that close to going 4-8...You lost your 5 games by an average of 28 points.
