Should Joe Paterno be ousted from College Football Hall of Fame

  • Who else thinks that Joe Paterno ought to be ousted from the College Football Hall of Fame?

They changed the rules to elect him while he was still coaching in 2007. Now of course he's been found to have lied to a grand jury and participated in a coverup of long term systematic, sexual abuse of children at Penn. State.

    KICK HIM OUT!

Yes. He enabled a monster to repeatedly rape children. To bad he didn't live long enough to answer for his cowardness.

  • YES. Good grief. YES.

This entire ordeal OUTWEIGHS everything he ever did. Basically all he ever did was win games despite enabling the utter ruination of a hundred peoples' lives.

Agree. Nothing else he has done will ever outweigh what he did to these boys.

  • Depends on the criteria of the Hall of Fame. If there is a character/integrity component, then yes.

I respect the level of denial Jay is in right now.....it's respectable. About 3-18 months from now he's going to be driving down the road or sitting on the toilet or something and just break down like few men ever do. He's going to realize, his dad by-proxy ran a child molestation/rape ring.

Will someone please tackle jay, handcuff him, and duck tape his mouth shut so he stops doing more and more damage. Also please tell him outside of penn state the rest of the world, for some crazy reason, believe the children that got raped were actually the victims, and not joe paterno.

  • i hate to say it but yes.

i say that because i feel bad for all the guys that played football for him. everyone looked to him as a great man and just had their world shattered. there are 2 parts to getting in. being a great coach, and being a great role model for your players. he exceeded expectations on the first count and failed miserably on the second.

hate seeing a guy who was so famous for his coaching go down in flames like this

  • Yes, and any records should be stripped of his name also. Kind of like the boys who were stripped of there dignity at the very least.

Jay paterno is getting very close to me thinking he needs to be euthanized like a dog that bit a kid

OJ was not found guilty. I know peoples perception is he was - but he was found innocent.

Sandusky was found guilty in an overwhelming landslide. Paterno's knowledge and involvement of the situation has also come to light in an overwhelming landslide.

Outside of that, they are different Hall Of Fames with different standards.

OJ was found guilty in a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-wife's family and the family of Ron Goldman. You are right about him being found not guilty in the criminal trial though

  • Yes, he should be gone from the hall. No one should celebrate that man.

They are both in the CFB hall of fame, so I'm not sure what you mean by different halls of fame. Also, while OJ sits in prison today for armed robbery and kidnapping, Paterno has never been charged let alone convicted of any crime.

    MrWoodson

  • Yes. He used the game, his school, and his power as HC to enable a perv. End of story.

    Stouds1

  • He should definitely be removed from the hall of fame.

Penn St also needs to aggressively remove him and his presence from their campus.

Penn St needs to quickly make moves so maybe 2 or 3 yrs from now, when espn is televising a Penn St game from state college, child rape isn't brought up During the broadcast

If he were still alive he may have eventually been convicted of something pertaining to the case. He passed away though and got off easy in that regard. Also, there's a big difference in that these crimes and Paterno's involvement happened DURING his career while OJs was long after.

  • no , what should happen is everyone that is about to take the fall for their past misdeads & those hired afterward to cover it all up should quit throwing a dead man under the bus .
