I say fire every single person that even had a minute amount of knowledge about the situation, but I'm very against any punishment that affects mainly people that had nothing to do with the situation. I realize we all want these men to burn in hell for what they did, but why punish the army of loyal fans (who also want to see the end of days for those bastards) and the players who just want to play ball and REALLY had nothing to do with all of this. That's the big reason I hate overarching penalties like the death penalty. It mainly affects people that had absolutely nothing to do with the problem.

But then again, if there's no threat of serious repercussions, people would just continue to do it I guess. So I don't know what the right thing to do is. Sending his ass to rot in prison was a good start.

I dont know about that it would not be fair to the players and fans who had no control over this. All people involved should be the ones removed completely from its history books though.

My thoughts exactly. You still have to have a punishment that is severe enough to deter sh!t like this, though, which is the hard part. I say you fire everyone that was involved, even if it was only a minuscule bit; if anyone associated had their name on something (scholarship, building, etc.), remove it immediately; tear down any and all statutes; not only strike every win from the record book, but force them to take down banners, redo all materials that reflect the number of wins/titles/etc. (which would be very expensive), and get rid of any trophies obtained during said timeframe; finally, when a new AD, coach, et al are appointed, a public damnation of the guilty. Not a, "Here at Penn State, we hold ourselves to a higher..." No no no, I want to hear them say, "Sandusky is lower than the scum of the Earth and I hope he gets raped with a 2x4 covered in barbed wire for eternity while he burns in hell."

Well it's not fair to me as a USC fan the NCAA put us on probation. It was well documented other students and people were getting the same rates at a hotel but the NCAA didn't care.

Their athletic department covered up 6 year olds getting raped for a decade. They should pay the price.

I know same thing happened to us in the early 2000s. I want that to stop though. I know it stings what happened to us but i dont think its right.

I realize it sucks what happened to USC (again, Alabama fan), but that logic isn't good. So because you got screwed, PSU should to? That just continues to cement the fact the NCAA doles out punishment with no rhyme or reason IMO. We all want the NCAA to get their act together but then fans of teams who have gotten the short end of the stick get that, "Fair is fair!" attitude all the time. That doesn't solve anything.

One year athletic suspension. This cover up wasn't to save your buddy, it was to protect the image of the Penn State Athletic department. This punishment isn't for molesting children, it's for covering up molesting children to protect the program. USC faced sanctions even after all the people involved bailed. A message needs to be sent. If you cover up information of criminal activity to protect an athletic program, the damage done if you are discovered is going to be so severe that it's not worth it to risk it.

But again, that mainly punishes a bunch of people who had nothing to do with (and also condemn) the crimes committed. How would a one year athletic suspension be better than, say, forcing the school to fire everyone involved and create a mandate saying that none of them could be hired by another university for, I don't know, 5 years? And in the case of JoePa (if he was still alive) and those closest to the situation, banned from college athletics for life.

  • Like remove those all involved completely and ban them from ever returning to coaching or even attending a penn st sporting event. But thats just me. Make the punishment of the ones who actually did it so severe that others will be afraid to step out of line.Like with Bama and the Booster those involved in the whole thing should have been banned forever and not crush the fans or players who had nothing to do with it like they did.

The individuals were acting on behalf of and with the consent of the University. There has to be accountability both with the individuals and with the University. If you hire people of questionable character to run your University, and I mean this in any department of the university, there will be consequences. The players need not be punished. They should be free to transfer anywhere they wish, or stay if they wish. The University screwed up royal.

I would feel the same if it was Michigan State.
