    Thanks AV!

No problem, breaking down some film today but I'll be out there first thing in the AM tomorrow.

Yeah he's on the shorter side, but he's really, really, good. William Vlachos started for one of Bama's National Championship team and I promise was like 5-11.5. Crowder has a higher skill level than him.

Crowder has to lose at least 20 pounds of bad weight. But every DL I spoke with a few minutes ago ... and several OL ... raved about his strength.

  • Thanks alot Paul, could you provide the link to the article or speak a bit about which schools are pursuing him......I'm hoping there would be some Tennessee Vol mention there!

I predict he will be UGA's # 56 recruit of 2013, outside chance at #57

How is Lewis looking out there at the practice?

Really like Lewis as an OLB in this 50 defense.

  • All signs point to Clemson for Crowder.

Georgia is second on his list. But I'm not so sure the interest in being equally reciprocated at this very moment.

  • With an interior OL is the arm length nearly as important as OT? That pick of Crowder the DL has his hands on his pads and Crowders arms reach the guys biceps.

This is good news for LSU fans. Anxious to hear how both Gilmore and Neal look this week as many feel Neal has been flying under the radar.

When I've seen Gilmore in-person at games, the production hasn't necessarily matched what you would hope out of someone who physically looks the prototype for a defensive tackle. He's all of 6-3+, 290 and looks well put together.

So far today, though, he has been outstanding and certainly surpassed my expectations and the expectations of a few other observers who shared my sentiment.

Gilmore has the flexibility and agility to move. But he's shown a component of functional strength in 1v1s and tossed a few leaning OL aside, too.

I spoke to two N.C. offensive linemen after the morning workout, and Gilmore is the first one they pointed out as being impressive.

Keith keep an eye out for Fabian Jefferson of South Florence HS (S. Carolina). He's under the radar.....

Eyeball test, I would put Jefferson at 6-2, rather than 6-4. More of an H-back type.

N.C. really seems to be intent on using its TE, ECU-bound Kirk Donaldson, a lot. Donaldson has really improved his body. He spent a semester at Will Grier's school before transferring back to Vance -- can't imagine the #s he would have put up if he could have handled the academic workload.

Thanks for the updates Keith. Specifically interested in Tyquan Lewis and Korrin Wiggins, and how they are performing.

Lewis, normally, a DE, is lining up at OLB .... He's happy about that since that is what he'll be playing in Columbus.

How is Carlis Parker(VT Commit at QB) looking at WR?

Only saw him for a little bit. But he's quick, that's for sure.
Real skinny legs. I mean, REAL skinny.
Gonna be neat to see what he can do with 20 more pounds on him

I know that often times heights and weights are self-reported but dang a number of guys are shorter than I expected. (Crowder, Miller, Turner)

Does seem like this is true

OK. But I mean, they really aren't doing a ton yet. Again, he's at OLB. He seems to be a good fit there

  • Tell you an lower-radar prospect who has looked good in our small sample size -- N.C. State CB Jack Tocho out of Independence High in Charlotte. Tocho can run. My question with him has always been hips, but he appears to have improved his flexibility a good deal.

Tom O'Brien's downfall was, in part, the inability to recruit at a perceived level of his competitors, and there was some truth to that. But his staff had an eye for discerning talent and undervalued guys who could play. Tocho looks like one of them.

  • How's Logan looking out there? In these settings is it easier to get a feel for lineman/linebackers as opposed to non-trench guys (wrs, dbs, qbs, rbs)?

Who knows. I think there are politics on both sides, especially in North Carolina, concerning this game.

It's not a camp. It's an all-star game with the top players from both Carolinas. They do practice all week then play the game on Saturday.

Very good event. I usually cover it but was not able to make it this year.

Sources tell me some kids decided not to play after learning J.C. wouldn't be here.

I haven't been able to independently confirm this, though

I think we all knew Crowder lacked size. Miller, too.

Turner, though, looks short compared to those two. Which is noteworthy.

In general, I think you're always wise to knock off at least 1 inch on a height that is reported by the player or coach. Often 2.

Logan lives up to his billing. He's slight (5-11, 175), but he's dynamic. Bursts through small holes, changes direction on a dime. Fantastic when used as a receiver, too. Trick for UNC will be putting another 10-15 pounds on him as planned.
