    neither.

I guessed the premise of that movie from the commercial before it ever came out.

  • Great movie. If you haven't seen it then I'd highly recommend it. The last scene leaves you guessing a little bit but I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it

  • Definitely a great movie and if you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and rent it.

I read the book first and it was one of the best books I've ever read.

    To an extent.

I'm not really going to get into this because I work in Psych so i'm just nit-picking...but schizo doesn't begin to describe his problems.

Yes, he hears voices, so technically schizophrenia is rolled into it.

It left you guessing? I thought it answered the question and gave you closure at the end. Explain plz.

I haven't seen it since it came out and i'd like to hear your POV on it.

What i took from it was that the treatment worked and he did remember everything but he didn't want to live as a man who killed his wife and who's kids were murdered and what not so he was acting like it didn't work to get lobotomized.

Tony Soprano was shot and killed. It's obvious.

I thought the same as you but a lot of people thought he was still crazy seeing as how he "acted" like he reverted back.

But I've gotten into arguments with friends who believed he was still crazy

this is exactly how I saw it...he knew full well what he was doing when he pretended to revert back towards the end

"Which would be worse - to live as a monster? Or to die as a good man?"

I think his delusions were due to not wanting to accept the reality and his decision in the end was not wanting to live with that reality.

This is too how I took it but most people who think he was still crazy say that he didn't have time, once he realized his past, to make the decision to stay crazy and get injected. It was only about a minute or two for him to actually decide it wasn't worth staying alive.

  • Yes, in the end the shock and experimental treatment worked. He realized that his existence was a fabrication of reality. That his mind was unable to process the events he went through (which is a very real psychiatric problem) so his mind rationalized the events in a manor in which he could cope. In the end he realized it and choose an altered state of reality. Basically, the thought that ignorance is bliss. Amazing movie
