Silas Redd gone?

  • rolltide06 said...

I wouldn't go with a top 5 offense but if they get Redd they will have a top 30 offense this year and that's impressive for the SEC.

Based on what? They were 104th last year and lost one of their best young WRs in Deanthony Arnett. 104th!!! Facts are facts. Their offense stunk last year and it's a very big climb from 104th to 30th. Anything's possible, but it's a huge stretch to assume that Silas Reed would make that much of a difference. And there are much better options for him. That was my point. If Redd is going to transfer, why would he pick a team that is going to struggle just to make it to a bowl game? He might as well stay at PSU.

They were 5-7 last year (1-7 in SEC). They finished 11th out of 12 teams in conference. They didn't make a bowl game last year and they probably won't this year either. Dooley is on one of the hottest seats in the country. They might come in ahead of Vandy and UK in their division this year, but then again they might not. They had the 104th ranked offense in the country last year and you think Silas Redd vaults them to #5? What drugs are you on?

They also add Bray back from injury fwiw.

@MomentOfSilas25 you wanna pay me for my redd jersey if you transfer? I thought you were a true nittany lion. I was wrong. #sellout

Nothing like pushing him out the door....this is the type of crap that will see all their players bolt...it only takes one to get the ball rolling

You really dont know anything about Tennessee. They have arguably America's 2nd or 3rd best WR group, an elite QB and a very good OL.

This board makes me sound like such a Vol fan and I cant stand them. If you're breakdown of 2012 Tenn is based on their record the last 4-5 years then you aren't worth reading. They have a number of questions finding answers this offseason.

Great. Maybe they won't be 5-7 (1-7) again this year. But they're not going to beat UF. Or UGA. Or USCe. Or Alabama. So that's four losses right there. And they still have reasonably tough games against NCSt, Vandy, Missouri, MSU and arguably even UK. Tennessee is in rebuilding mode. If they win 6-7 games this year, it will be a step forward but they're hardly the best option on the table for Silas Redd.

  • Excuse my ignorance as I may have missed the clarificaton but were the reports yesterday that USC wasn't eligible to take Penn St kids wrong? That was the last thing I saw about it. Thanks to anyone that clarifies the situation.

  • I thInk the stability of Penn st players all rest on Silas redd if he goes the flood gates will open.

Could you really not name 5 teams better offensively than Tennessee with Redd? I immediately named 5 after reading your absurd comment initially.

It's a projection. Tennessee's OL is totally different then last year. QB is healthy after missing 5 games last year. WRs go from Da'Rick last year as a Soph to 2012 when it's Jr Da'rick, RSo Hunter, and Jr Patterson.

Add an elite RB and you're foolish to dispel them having a SICK offense.

I believe USC can take them on but they won't be 'free' players. USC will have to give him a scholarship, meaning one less scholarship for their current class.

Not that I think UTis is going to be great but they are much closer to being competitive in the SEC East than you think. Hunter missed practically the entire season and Bray got hurt and missed half the season. They lost to UGA by 8 points, UF by 10 points, and USCe by 11 points. None of those 3 teams are so good that they are automatic wins against UT this coming season. UT has a chance to be really good on offense. They are missing an elite RB though.

  • It would make no sense at all to transfer to Tennessee. If I were Redd, I would transfer to USC (or another legit national title contender with a need at Rb) or stay at Penn St.

You gonna go through the hassle of a transfer, and turn away from your teammates just for a chance to play in the Liberty bowl?

UT makes no sense to me. If you're going to go through all the hassle and risk of transferring, pick a school where you are going to win and have fun. UT is a historic and proud program, but it's an SEC bottom feeder right now. It would be like transferring to UM during the RR era. Makes no sense. Go to USC, Oregon, UGA, UF, UM, OSU, Iowa. NW even makes more sense to me.

Although I hate UT with the searing heat of 7 suns, I think they might just be a good RB and an injury-free season away from competing for the East this year. I'm not going to get carried away and say they have a shot at any sort of league or national championship, even at 50:1. Their QB can sling it if he isn't broken (which he may be on the most feminine of tackles). Their WR's are very legit...if they aren't on crutches. Not sure on Oline. D should be much better this year. Depth probably stinks. Just saying, he could go there and maybe win 8-10 games if everyone stays healthy, and get big chunks of yardage per carry b/c the passing game should be pretty elite. He also wouldn't have to share carries.
