  • It was great. Be prepared for intense drama with little humor, dark, but if you dig that then watch (i do).

So its very character driven? Would you say you get attached to the characters and genuinely care what happens to them a la Mad Men (imo)?

I watched the first episode and I am still on the fence. Pops dying right outta the gate was surprising. Daughter being tweaked out on meth when they went to identify the body was pretty good. David being gay...I don't like it. I just dont like how every show has to have a gay character these days. I guess im gonna watch a few more episodes.

Does the show get significantly better as it progresses?

One of my favorite HBO shows of all time. Wish they would have had more than three seasons of it. I thought that Rome ended way to early as well. I don't know why with emperors like Nero, Cladius and some of the other nutjobs why they stopped it after Augustus was first named emperor. I've heard that it was because they decided that the dumpster fire surfing show could take it's place. Can't remember the name of it.

That was it and all of the major characters were big surfers from what I remember. It certainly didn't hold a candle to Rome and I've heard that they cancelled it to put John from Cincinnati in it's place. That could be wrong just what I heard. It might have had to do with the fact that JFC had to be a TON cheaper to produce.

    Yeah

And they surfed but it wasn't much of the show, IIRC the show was religious and many people I knew thought John would end up being Jesus reborn or something like that

I never understood what John was supposed to be, but I kind of got that he was supposed to some kind of angel or something along those lines. I gave up on it after the first six episodes or so. It didn't last more than a season or two and I certainly wasn't pissed when they cancelled it.

To get back to the OP, I was never a huge fan of Six Feet Under but I never took the time to watch the whole progression of it either. I've heard from most people that talk about it, that it was one of HBO's better shows though.

Agree whole-heartedly on Rome. Excellent show. I heard they canceled it bc the sets/overall production was way too expensive. It wasnt popular enough to justify spending that kind of money on it. I think they could have done a better job of marketing it at the time.

Agree with Deadwood as well. I am guilty of not giving that show its fair shot when it was actually airing. I remember hating the name of the show and not being impressed with the previews. I didnt like the main character from the small snippets I saw. Got hooked on it a couple of years after it ended and was ashamed that I turned my nose up at it originally.

The show I can't believe they renewed is Enlightened. The main character is the most annoying character on any show I have ever watched.

  • I haven't watched an episode of Enlightened. Just didn't think it was going to be a show that I would like.

Actually I take that back. I watched fifteen minutes of it and said fvck it.
