Un knows their place in the world. He cant be oblivious to it. He has seen the real facts and numbers, it's not like he actually thinks he can drop a bomb on our east coast or survive the next three days if he did.
He knows they are small enough to where they can be a real bur in the saddle and cause a bunch of havoc and yet no one will invade/declare war. Then he can use it to really impress his people. They are slowly opening the country up technologically. He is trying to retain a tight grip.

I tend to agree, but North Korea does stupid irrational things on the regular, trying to apply logic to his rule is a fools errand.
I still don't understand why China doesn't just deal with North Korea though. That little country is broke as hell, why not just take it over themselves?

That's logical enough, but China could deal with Kim Jong whatever and not open the boarders between the two countries. Just get that country out of oppression and it might have some potential.
Just seems like North Korea is like that little kid who won't shut up but has a big older brother; but in this case I'm not sure why big brother is sticking up for his younger bro.
NK is very fascinating to me though.
