So WVU to the Big 12 a done deal?

According to the twitters this is a done deal. WVU pays 5 million and will have to wait 27 months before joining.

If true, big fall for West Virginia...they were talking SEC, ACC...and not the Big 12?
And this probably is the death knell for the Big East if true.

In the hurry to be first to market, journalists seem to have disregarded that small detail called journalistic integrity.
"Journalism" is now: hear a rumor, disseminate rumor to everyone possible, retract information as needed (including apologies for being incorrect). Somehow "confirm rumor with sources" just dropped out of the loop.

ESPN is now reporting it as well. Looks like this is going down. This could be the end for Big East Football.

Big 12 could accept West Virginia Mountaineers as early as Tuesday, source says - ESPN

The Big 12 has told West Virginia it will be accepted into the conference pending formal approval, which could happen as soon as later Tuesday, a Big 12 source said.

WVU joining the Big 12 isn't contigent on Missouri leaving, very interesting. If Missouri were to stay, probably be adding Louisville.

I agree with you I think next year will be the last year for Pitt SU and WVU in the Big East. I'm sure the basketball only schools are ready to take back their conference. I'm glad Memphis didn't get caught up in this mess. We'll see if we can luck into a BCS league by joining forces with the MWC - CUSA combo.

Big East conference is dead. WVU, Pitt, and Syracuse leaving. That leaves 5 schools. 5 schools do not make a conference. Boise, Navy, Air Force and Houston are not coming without WVU. That was a big point that they made.

So I guess the better question is where are the other teams going to land. UL might be going to the big 12. But are teams like Cincinati and South Florida coming back to CUSA. We already have to many teams since we're joining fores with the MWC.

My thoughts too. Not worried at all about playing WVU but i'd rather speed the process up with Pitt and Syracuse. I want that tv money.
