So WVU to the Big 12 a done deal?

  • fsufsu said...

My thoughts too. Not worried at all about playing WVU but i'd rather speed the process up with Pitt and Syracuse. I want that tv money.

Not worried about playing WVU either. Worried about playing @ USF and home against UF and WVU ooc all in the same year. That's just retarded.

So I guess the better question is where are the other teams going to land. UL might be going to the big 12. But are teams like Cincinati and South Florida coming back to CUSA. We already have to many teams since we're joining fores with the MWC.

We will see. Big East still has the automatic tie in. Adding Boise, Houston, etc. will keep that auto tie in since many there have more success in the time frame to keep one than West Virginia, Louisville, Syracuse and Pitt - none who have been the BCS representative in 3 years - even though WVU has a good chance this year.

I dont' think the CUSA/MWC combo conference stays at 32. I think you will see the best teams in the CUSA, MWC, (doubt a MAC team, but who knows with Temple) join up and keep the auto bid. At the last agreement the BCS was closer to adding an AQ than they were taking one away from the Big East.

When all is said and done I see teams getting rid of the risk of not getting a bid and creating a newish conference that will have a bid and will probably not lose it due to recent success.

I think Big East will for sure lose it's AQ. If WVU leaves I don't think any decent programs jump on to save the league. I think everyone just lets the ship sink.

Who is going to pull it from them?

And going by the criteria if they get the reported teams to join it is actually a better league than it is today. You would have 2 programs (Cincinnati and Boise) that have finished in the top 10 lately, UConn who went to a BCS game last year, Houston who will be in the top 15-20 by the end of this year, 2 service academies that are going to be tough to pull the bid from, and many other teams that have ranked in the 20-30 range over the past few years.

Not great and not the Big 12, Big East, Big 10, but would have as good as a record over 5 years than the ACC and would blow the current Big East out of the water.

Not saying that I have inside information or anything like that so this is just my opinion, but I don't see how in 2 years they can pull it from a league with better teams than they currently have.

I know what you mean philosophically but the AD is tossing us a hanging curveball. If we win its a big win for in-state news and reviews. If we lose it certainly isn't his fault. We will have a much better team. Going down and playing in Tampa in front of likely every good central Florida recruit in next year's class is smart for our program.

  • Literally no interest in adding WVU to the Big XII.

If Mizzou leaves then add BYU and call it quits.

  • Closest Big XII city would be Ames, nearly 900 miles away and a 15 hour dive. NCAA athletics have gone full retard. I miss the old Big XII. Someone please end this crap conference.

There is now rule saying that there has to be 6 AQ conferences in fact they almost lost it last time they were up for review and was granted a temporary extension. There is a rule saying that there can be no more then 2 BCS teams form a conference I believe. Also that fact that the Big East is now trying to join in on the CUSA - MWC should tell you that the likelyhood of Houston and Boise joining the Big East is very small. Schools have said before that they were only interested in joining the conference if West Virginia stayed.

That's because they know if they lose West Virginia they for sure lose the AQ this time around. The Big East is in a sad state of affairs right now the Basketball schools have been wanting the football schools out for a while now and I think they are going to get their wish.

  • Interesting because as of last year they were talking about adding one. I have never heard the 6 conference rule.
The Big East has an AQ for 2 more years. I will be amazed if teams would stay in a 20+ conference instead of making a move to join up with the big east teams to keep the AQ. West Virginia wasn't helping the AQ that much. Cincinnati is the best asset for the conference due to what they use since UC they have the best BCS ranking results in 2 years and get the most points. The review is 08, 09, 10, 11. a

    http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=5126859

Even though schools say that they will get out of the Big East before the waiting period I don't see it happening. The Big East will renew the BCS AQ status and then move on and will be able to be on solid footing by the next one.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/25512/millions-of-reasons-for-big-easts-stance

Above all as long as UC is in an AQ conference I am happy. Being in MAC, CUSA, MWC is a hit since you are not only not playing for a BCS birth, but the rest of the bowl tie ins are weak.

No. Senators getting involved, which was expected. This could actually hurt Louisville, IMO. I mean, they know they are going to be included when the Big 12 goes to 12 schools. Why get politicians in the middle of this? If something does happen and Louisville goes, then I know WVU is next so no. I'm not nervous.

Pretty sure they are going to 10 schools for 1 year. After that they will need their championship game back. WVU is in. Coach Carey(women's basketball) sent a text to all commitments last night saying WVU is official to Big 12. Don't think he would do that unless it was final. If Missouri stays they could get back to 12 now by adding WVU and Louisville. Is Missouri leaves WVU, Louisville, and .......... Not Cinci. USF now being thrown out there. This coming from a board member at Texas Tech.

Adding USF would be crazy. I do agree that both Louisvlle and WVU are probably going to the Big 12 and it would be great addition to their league.

It's absolutely his fault for scheduling it and FSU doesn't need to play in Tampa to attract recruits from there.

I think the ACC has won. They've managed to strengthen their conference while being the lynchpin in the demise of the Big East (but without making the final deathblow so it looks like others are picking the conference apart). And the Pac 12 won last year, as well as the Big Ten. The SEC has looked a bit foolish and incompetent at times but they'll eventually win. The Big 12, if they win will be from sheer dumb-luck.

Oh, joy. "Political games" from Kentucky folk started this UL vs. WVU thing so more "political games" from West Virginia will set things right. Great logic you Appalachian peoples.

  • been hearing its going to be Louisville, WVU and Missouri will stay in the Big 12. If Missouri doesn't stay, it would be either one of them or both and add another. BYU is not an option apparently.
