So it looks like violent video games are under review...

  • Selective breeding. Feel free to do a write-in next election.

And how are you going to stop that? They pay for the service.

Just for the sake of discussion, should people be able to buy whatever they want? And I mean WHATEVER?

  • Penny Arcade basically summed up my thoughts on this matter:

"It's an odd sort of Patriot who would destroy the First Amendment to protect the Second."

The NRA came out today and blamed video games for the Newton shooting.

So apparently, guns don't kill people. Video games kill people.

And the video game they cite?? MORTAL KOMBAT

The freaking government should be embarrassed. They have bigger things to worry about than video games.

Nobody wants to blame the actual guy that committed the crime. They always have to look for something else to blame it on. That's all it is. Whether it be guns, video games(lol), or parenting or whatever. Nobody wants to blame the actual person that committed the crime.

I agree with you on this, but I also think that the violent video games have a negative impact / influence on the youth also. I also think that they should revise some of the gun regulations. I would suggest that the maximum number of rounds should be 6. There's no application for civilians that requires automatic weapons or clips that hold 30 + rounds. It's just the smart thing to do. I am a hunter and have owned fire arms most of my life, but there should be regulations passed.

Not going to debate it but you are completely wrong.

Air Marshals and armed pilots have been pretty damned successful in stopping another 9/11. Armed teachers/administrators would've stopped this tragedy in its tracks.

So what should we do? Ban video games as well? Good grief

At some point people need to realize that it is the person

I don't think every teacher is going to be OK with carrying guns in a classroom full of children.

    Wasn't the government.
    It was the NRA

So do you believe there is no point in which we should ban the ownership of things if there are people who wouldn't do bad things with it? Not even fully operable tanks, fighter jets, nukes? I realize I'm being facetious, but humor me.

There was an armed county sheriff at Columbine.

    Didn't stop the shooting.

Its all hypothetical "could of would of should of"

Oh my gosh....you can't be serious.

Because someone is really going to play Call of Duty and then go operate a tank.

That is whats wrong with this country! No one takes responsibility for their actions anymore and wants to play the blame game

There are millions and millions of people in this country. Just because a law won't stop every single theoretical person from committing a crime is no reason to stop passing laws.

In 1996 a man went on a rampage in Australia with two semi-automatic rifles, legal guns at the time. He killed 35 people and injured 21 more. It was the 7th mass shooting where more than 5 people were killed in ten years. After that, Australia (which previously had gun laws similar to ours) banned all semi-automatic rifles. Since then, there have been no shootings resulting in more than two deaths.

Adam Lanza would have had no access to an assault rifle if they were illegal. If they were illegal they would cost thousands of dollars on the black market, which a suburban boy with no friends and no job would have had no access to.

And how are you going to get the assault weapons that law abiding citizens have already purchased legally?

  • Borderlands and Borderlands 2 should both be banned. I am ready to go back to life.

Its so true. "What made him do this"?

Maybe it was because he is a dick that had nothing going for him, and decided he wanted to be a celebrity on the news since every news station in this God forsaken country turns these sickos into overnight celebrities. Maybe... Just maybe THAT is the reason. He didn't want to live anymore, so he went out with a bang because he knew that the news would make him famous.

Or maybe its because he joined 20 million other people in an online shooter game. The 20 million others were just fine. The game obviously affected him to the point for him to shoot up a school. Yep. That's it. Its the video game.no

  • No one can just admit that this is a price you pay living in a free and open society. The blame must be put on something... Guns.. games.. music

  • Society as a whole is a lot of the problem. Group it all together. Social media, Hollywood, video games, attitudes, lack of spirituality, and egotism. Society as a whole is warped. It just is. And the government is included in that.

Making knee jerk reaction laws, and taking our rights is not going to fix that. Tweak the laws that are in place that may need tweaked. But don't go vigilante on our rights.

The first place that needs changed is Hollywood.

What does that have to do with what I said? I don't think video games are any part of the problem. I don't think my neighbor should own a tank, though.

I'd say that's something they should have their noses in. My neighbor shouldn't own a SMAW. Period.
