Whats getting lost is the fact that around 20,000 kids died today. TODAY. Almost half of those died because they didnt have clean water. Here we are trying to take guns away because a few kids died while 10,000 kids only need some clean water. Yall tell me whats getting lost. Are those 20 kids in NJ more important than brown kids in third world countries?

When you look at the big picture it seems kinda ridiculous that were talking about banning video games and assault rifles in order to save a few kids here and there and let millions die each year because were to dam lazy to get them some clean water. And thats a story you wont see on the news or in the media. I promise you that story is much worse than any shooting in the US.

But that kinda defines the point. The world is a shit place from certain angles. Its not a double rainbow world. And thats what pisses me off the most when "tragedies" like these happen and people feel moved to get up in arms for a few weeks to make themselves feel better before completely forgetting about it in a month. There are tragedies happening every day. Either find a way for you to get personally involved and make a difference by getting your hands dirty and doing actual work or shut the hell up. If you didnt know churches from all over the country regularly go on mission trips to install water filtration systems and to dig fresh wells all over the world. Go help save some kids that dont have to die in the future if your so sad about kids dying.

I agree with you. My point though was the kids that were killed are forgotten cut the guy that killed them will be remembered because of the media. This guy was a coward. He wanted people to remember him. He knew nobody would remember or care if he just killed himself

  • I'm not calling out anyone on tBB with this comment, just FYI, but I find it interesting how some people support sending aid to people in other countries (which I fully support, by the way) and yet call doing the same for some people in our own country "socialist" or "liberal" or what have you. Weird double standard IMO.

I can't speak for other people but I completely disagree with sending support to people in other countries, unless it's a natural disaster.

We have far to many problems with our own people to be giving shit away while stepping over homeless and starving people in our own country. There is a statistic that one in four children are growing up hungry right here in our borders.

  • No such thing as an assault rifle. Assault is an action which can be performed with anything from sticks
and stones to nukes. They are all useless without an idiot behind them. If this guy had used a couple of
pipe bombs and possibly killed more people how could we ban those? If he had used a single shot gun
and only killed 5 kids would it have been any less tragic? And would we then ban single shot guns. Point
is they will always have ways to kill regardless how many freedoms you would want the goverment to
    take from law abiding citizens.

Personally I think that gun control is the easiest way to ease people's minds honestly. It won't do a bit of damn good but a lot of people will sleep better at night until the next incident happens and then they will want another extreme but easy "fix".

I agree with you about the mental/social disabilities argument. I could be completely wrong and this is a complete guess and hope that it is taken that way. I think why mental/social disabilities aren't blamed more because it's a MUCH harder solution to fix in most people's eyes. First of all it's tough to diagnose because a lot of people are so afraid that things like this will be discovered about them that they have spent their whole lives perfecting ways to conceal them until it blows up.

Secondly, a lot of people don't have the money to send people to others with the capacity and professional ability to diagnose problems like those in the first place. I promise that you won't see the government stepping up and offering aid to provide research and funds to send patients with problems such as these to get help.

Our problems are comparatively minor. The United States and Western Europe in 2012 has the highest standard of living and the most freedom of any civilization in the history of mankind and it isn't even close. We should never lose sight of that.

Lanza used two handguns. The assault rifle never left the car.

    Yep. FBI said so.

But the damn Coroner said it had to be a long rifle. Really??? Had to be? BS.

I believe the initial reports before they stomped all over it. 2 handguns. They pulled the assault rifle from the car.

If you can't take them out with a 45 or a shotgun, then perhaps you don't need a gun? The sad thing is that it is much more likely that a family member will use that gun to commit suicide or a child will accidentally shot himself with the gun. The odds that you will use that gun to kill a burglar are lower.

I am sure i could take them out with a 45. But i dont have one or an AR. What i do have is a 12 gauge, 2
ruger sr40's that hold the same combined as an AR, a ruger mini14 ranch rifle with 5 20 round clips, a
410 that belongs to my son, ruger 10/22 with 5 ten round clips, and a taurus 45/410 judge revolver. My wife,
son and I go often to shoot and learn safe firearm handling. As for odds, well you have much higher odds
losing a child or family member in a car crash but i bet you still drive them around.

I think a ban on assault rifles is coming and long overdue. You and your stockpile will be fine. Don't count on being able to replace that ruger though. It should be banned. Those guns will net someone pennies on the dollar when they are stolen and fenced.

Yea well if all the crying liberals get their way obuma and the UN will try and take all we have. I bet many
will be happy when that day comes so only the criminals can kill. Ohhhh wait thats what happens now.
The stupidity of liberal hacks is unreal. Like being shot dead by 30bullets is somehow worse than being
killed by one. From the sound of your comments you're not much of a hunter. Are you one of those
anti gun advocates that has a GUN FREE ZONE sign in your front lawn.

  • The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Also if you've ever lived through a hurricane with no power and no police for weeks. With mobs of people looting homes you would appreciate a high cap magazine to protect your family.

Yes because the original assault weapons ban did so much to stop violence and school shootings. If you anti gun weirdos are going to make an argument at least don't be a dumbass.

I'm glad you brought that up. If you were referring to my post I didn't say our government should send aid. I'm a Republican and believe in personal responsibility. I meant you go help. Not our government. The money you spend for this site could save a bunch of kids lives every year. Its your choice what you do.

I am not an anti-gun nut. The NRA is important because most of the pro-gun advocates have difficulty forming complete thoughts. Take this idiot for example...

Not going to debate it but you are completely wrong.

So why do courthouses have armed guards then if its such a bad idea? I think if someone besides the NRA proposed it you and most of the other lefties would be all for it.
