I completely disagree. We need to quit sending loads of money to these countries

I agree that we need to stop spending so much money on these endeavors (need to stop spending so much period) but I hope we can at least keep providing some aid.

Instead of spending so much on our military overseas or even in aid, we should instead use that money to build infrastructure over there. Not as cool, but it would be much better for them.

I don't want to stop using the effective resources we have as a super developed nation to help out those in need. Where's the humanity?

Foriegn Aid is like 1.5% of the federal budget dumbass.

A large chunk of that is military.

"Foriegn Aid" another bogeyman that the right uses to scare low information voters.

I'm not trying to scare anyone. It is stupid to send that kind of money overseas when we have our own problems here.

Our military spending is far larger than our needs. No reason for us to have any more than a strong air force with air craft carriers and a small elite fighting force. We have no military threats, there is no need for us to have a standing army. The key is flexibility and efficiency, not brute strength.

If we took the money we spend on military excess and used just that money to build roads, wells, and schools in the middle east and africa people over there would like us a lot more and they would be a lot less prone to radicalism. Think of it as a new Marshall Plan.

And what about our own problems here?

Not discounting them, I am just pointing out a way to better utilize our money that is already spent overseas.

I do think our military spending is far too excessive.

No, they are radicals because they are poor and uneducated.

The Marshall Plan turned central and western Europe away from communism. But hey, that was just another liberal crackpot theory.
