So we haven't had a thread about targeting Americans with drones

  • Weedline said...

That's not the argument. We are asking would it be OK to kill someone with a drone if it saved the lives off others. There is no justification to say no IMO. Cost/benefit is another argument.

Again, this isn't the issue. The issue is that no specific guidelines have been stated.

It was literally said that an imminent threat did not necessarily mean an immediate threat.

So, is it ok for law enforcement to kill someone today they suspect is going to shoot up a school in a month?

So you would be cool with cruise missiles or anything else weapon wise being used on U.S. soil if it may save other lives. There are always alternatives to everything. I'm not ok with the danger that comes with bombs being dropped on our soil.

Yes. I am for the most efficient way of killing the bad guys trying to kill innocent people. If it stops them from killing someone, I don't care where it comes from. I don't understand why someone would.

If you have to blow up someone's house (assuming they're not in it) in order to kill a perp, who's going to pay to rebuild that family's house?

I'm just against it because a bomb could cause a lot more harm than good.

Of course not. But I'm not sure why that is relevant to the conversation. It's not OK to kill someone with a stun gun let alone a drone missile who has not yet committed a crime.

Insurance? The family of the persons life you just saved? That's like the last thing in the world someone should care about. Dude...

Last thing in the world? Having your ENTIRE HOUSE BLOWN UP? That's a pretty big deal.

That is how the drones are used overseas.

Obama said that there would haw to be some changes to domestic operations, but no one in the administration has specifically stated the guidelines.

  • I dont like the idea of a drone or anything else used against our citizens by our corrupt government but to play devils advocate wouldnt a drone be cheaper than a chopper with people in it which in essence does/can do the same thing?shrug

Yes after all we have pre-cogs that detect these things now. There was an auto-bibliographic movie about it some 10 years ago.

Not compared to losing ones life. Don't be an idiot. What do you think happens when the police do damage to someones house? They just shrug their shoulders and say better luck next time? lol.

We have plenty of weapons we use differently overseas. A 9M handgun being one of them. Just because they MIGHT use new technology to take out those who intend to do harm, does not mean they plan on bombing random people sitting in their homes. It's still not OK to kill people you expect might do harm.

Doing damage and leveling a house are not the same thing.

If a perp is holed up in my house (why I don't know) and no one else is in there (I'm assuming we wouldn't bomb a structure with hostages inside), why blow the whole thing up? What, is he sitting in my living room in a tank?

Yes it is. Their insurance company is going to remembrance you the same. What? Do they have a 200k limit?

And what is your point? That you will be stuck without a place to stay? That you don't have 49 dollars to get a room? That the price of your neighbors kids is not worth the price of being without your home for a short while? You sir, need to GTFO.

Seriously, what is your point here? I'm not here to make up random situations where these strikes would be needed. I don't care. But if they were needed, which is the entire point of this thread, I would not have a problem using them. It's really not that hard.

  • SSDD. Every president today is nothing but a new gear for a wheel that will never stop turning. No politician, dem or repub, gives two sh!ts about any of us. They all play their big money power games and tell us all what they think we want to hear. People need to realize its no longer a question of dem vs repub, but rather what fits into whoever is in charge's agenda. The government is class A fvcked, and politicians don't care as long as they keep that money coming in, every last one of them.

I'm liberal but have long thought Obama to be nothing more than bush junior, and Clinton, well if you're having problems getting a mortgage you can thank him. He built the house of cards that tore the housing market apart.

I'm just afraid it's too far gone to be fixed at this point, I had a lot of hope for obama(no pun intended) but I have been severely disappointed.

At this point, to me, voting is nothing more than trying to decipher the lesser of two evils.

  • One thing is for sure, within 2-3 years there are going to be millions of drones performing "routine security" in America. Crime rates will plummet at least.
