The fact that Miami did some of their violations while still under sanctions will probably make their punishment more severe. Yes, Miami did self-impose, but that seemed more to appease themselves than anything else. I think the NCAA comes in swiftly and severely, especially since Paul Dee was one of their own--who defamed them.
If Golden did what he was reported to last week (with trainer/rouge recruiter), then you could see a big smack in the face.
It will be interesting, but I don't think the NCAA wants to go soft now that they are doing the death march on long-term abusers (as Miami is suspected to be).
For Miami, they don't have the pockets or alums like USC does. Also, unlike USC, Miami has been slipping in their winning and their program has been on a slide of late. I don't think Miami can take a very large hit. They have the NFL alums, but they don't have the backing of a USC.

Miami's previous sanctions ended in 1999. Allegations are going back 2001 so even if they override statue of limitations, they don't cross. Miami's athletics has never survived from the alums. Football survives because their recruiting base is in South Fla, which we all know is at the top. Miami survived previously. Fla is so rich in talent that survival after sanctioning is realistic. If Miami gets USC type, they'll survive like USC.
