This thread is a perfect example of how USC is held to a higher a standard than the rest of college football. All of you folks are trying to find the pimple on the Prom Queen's ass...hoping to find one.

Think a little highly of yourself there hoss?
You aren't the only one held to a high standard or have been scrutinized.
Hell, people keep talking Alabama and their defense, losing all those starters. Almost the entire starting defense has had hundreds of meaningful snaps (including Nico Johnson,Vinnie Sunseri, Trey Depriest, CJ Moseley, Dial). The only new faces are Deion Belue, Adrian Hubbard, Xzavier Dickson.

When you see comments like, "USC always loses a game.... every year", it tells me that USC is held to a higher standard. When USC loses, whether it be on the road or in multiple OT sessions, it is unforgivable. The latest example would be 2008.

My only concern is that SC does not lose a starting Olineman during the game, thus allowing Utah to embarrass USC because of 1 player getting hurt. Pretty sure that has never happened to any other high profile team...pretty sure?

people dont hold usc to a higher standard...they mock them because they lose to teams that have absolutely no business being on the same field as them. every team loses games...bama lost to lsu last year....an elite team
if usc would avoid the epic meltdown game, they wouldnt get these kinds of threads made about them

Higher standard? Yes. USC is not allowed to get upset by lesser teams. Only teams from the South are allowed those types of "mulligans."
A trend? How many teams go undefeated every year? However, USC, is expected to go undefeated.

2011: Alabama lost to only #1 LSU 2010: Auburn went undefeated 2009: Alabama went undefeated 2008: Florida lost to the Cotton Bowl-winning ranked Ole Miss by one point 2007: LSU lost in two 3OT to both ranked teams (also benefitted from the most ridiculous year in CFB) 2006: Florida lost to the #11 team on the road
-------
USC
2006: lost two games (one to a good OSU, the other to a mediocre UCLA) 2007: lost two games (to a terrible Stanford team and a good Oregon team) 2008: lost to a good Oregon State team
So your only gripe is 2008 (which also had like a six one-loss champions and undefeated Utah).
--------
Now that you have a championship game, one-loss wont kill you guys. Heck if you lose a close game on the road to a ranked team and beat Oregon twice, you won't get left out unless there are two undefeated teams (and might still get in depending on who those two teams are).

You forgot to back to 2003. 1 loss in 3OT on the road. And the consensus #1 team in the country.
By the way, your characterizations of who is solid and who is not is comical.
Thanks for the "might..." Way to go out on a limb there.
Higher Standard. You know it. Just accept it. Or mock it...Or just continue to pretend that USC being #1 over the reigning nc's does not bother you.

The question should be why is it easier to go undefeated in the SEC?
Perhaps your "10-4" teams are more smoke and mirrors than anything else? You know, how they load up on cupcakes OOC and then only play certain teams during the conference slate, thus giving the impression that they're "good."

So who else thinks Utah will upset USC?
