    Also half of the people were trying to steer the discussion away from politics.

    The only discussion of politics was people trashing Obama about something he had nothing to do with.

    Do you really think it was going to get better. I've done that in multiple threads. It doesn't work like that. I say to tone it back and if I leave the thread open it tones back for a couple of hours. Then it goes right back to it. I come in and lock it saying I told you I would lock it type deal and usually it is done with and posters find something else to talk about.

    I just don't get it. It was a pretty good thread, with a decent conversation. Of course when there are differing opinions, things are going to get heated. Aside from the racist comments, which I don't think are acceptable, things were relatively civil. No one was swearing or anything. It's an OT topic in the offseason.

    More of wanting an explanation IMO. If shes calls me names and stupid crap like that, that would be calling me out. I have no problem explaining why I do things. I've always tried to give an explanation for stuff.

    Start a new thread about it... If it goes south I will lock it also. If I think it is just a couple of people starting the trouble I will ban them. There are already a bunch of threads on this topic. If it can stay civil it won't be locked. I'm not going to unlock that one though. I would have to delete half of the posts and people would still comment on the posts that I wanted to delete. I'm fine with different opinions and it getting a little heated but a lot of that thread went too far.

    Terrible idea, splits board traffic makes all the boards seem dead.

    It wouldn't be my decision to do that. That is up to the staff. I do agree with the poster above in that it would split traffic and make this board seem a little dead. We don't talk about recruiting constantly here. The one thing I've noticed being a part of numerous other boards is that if the off topic board gets stale then they will just post it over here for people to look at.

    Not true. We have a board strictly for politics and religion and it doesn't impact our main board at all.

    There is a difference. When people go to their School's board they are there to talk about that school and related issues. When they come to the national board they are usually here to talk football and whatever, usually whatever. The national board is more of a free for all, if it wasn't it would be all my school vs. your school crap. It would be very boring and people would get tired of it quickly.

    IMO if you were to split the boards up like that for that national site the OT board would probably become the more popular board.
