Soccer guys: Best players going into Brazil 2014......

    Here is my quick list:

    Forwards

    1. Messi 2. Ronaldo 3. Rooney 4. Aguero 5. Suarez 6. Neymar 7. Cavani 8. Balotelli 9. Van Persie 10. Higuain

    Midfielders

    1. Ozil 2. David Silva 3. Iniesta 4. Fabregas 5. Bale 6. Pastore 7. Nani 8. Gotze 9. Wilshere 10. Tiago

    Defenders

    1. Pique 2. Vidic 3. Ramos 4. Jones 5. Tiago Silva 6. Dani Alves 7. Chiellini 8. Coentrao 9. Lahm 10. Smalling

    Goalkeepers

    1. Casillas 2. Neuer 3. Hart 4. De Gea 5. Caesar 6. Buffon 7. Lloris 8. Steklenburg 9. Cech 10. Muslera

Only other thing I'd say is that where you have Balotelli is an intriguing discussion on its own. He is so talented you almost have to have him in your top 4 or off the top 10 IMO. He's so good as a 20/21 year old when he's 23 he will have either gotten it and become amazing or he will have worn out his entire welcome and probably be back home at someplace like Napoli pissing people off.

  • Can't see how you leave Thomas Muller off this list. Lukasz Podolski is a beast too.

The more you look at it I believe it becomes obvious the best teams will be:

    1. United Kingdom 2. Spain 3. Brazil - Hosts with a huge advantage IYAM 4. Germany 5. Argentina

you do know there's no united kingdom team, its england, scotland, wales and northern ireland. they all have their own teams when it comes to soccer. they do compete as the united kingdon when it comes sports like the olympics but not in soccer..

As far as I understand the federation is trying to reclassify and as of now it's on for the World Cup. and beyond until Bale gets old and they switch back haha.

Nah they are only doing that because the olympics are in london, after the olympics they will go back to their separate federations. they will never compete as united kingdom team in the euros or future world cups.

  • Pastore will be amazing by 2014. Watching him a lot this season and he can do crazy things

    alexSC

  • Goalies can play into their late 30's or early 40's so Buffon could still play for Italy. As far as Hulk goes, he is good now and will be a very good player in the future but not sure a top 10 forward. The other guys I listed are all better now and still pretty young.

I really like Mueller but not Top 10, I think he is a little overrated. Podolski is a good player but belongs no where near a top 10 list , he usually plays well in the World Cup but talent wise he isn't a top talent.

  • One interesting thing is that Spain has like 10 very talented forwards in the 19-22 year old range but they need 2-3 of them to really break out in the next year. Will Bojan Krkic ever blow up.

    How lethal can Pedro become?

One other guy left off the list is Angel Di Maria. He's 21 now I believe and bordering on excellent already. He could be A-mazing in 27 months.

They have a kid name Iker Muniain, keep a close eye on him. Amazing talent.

Muniain is great but Ander Herrera is even greater, he plays for Atheletic Bilboa

They both do, with Javi Martinez

  • The Spanish federation you know would love Real selling their Argentine/French striker tandem who are very good but not great and them signing two Spaniards. They need the development. Barcelona is soon to sell David Villa and Chelsea is likely selling Torres to Malaga this summer. They are beginning to fade a good bit.

Benzema is not going anywhere, he's starting to become one of the best in the world. I think Higuain is out this summer tho

Yh the bottom line is the spanish are loaded with talent, they are deep in every position apart from the center back position..

Higuain should go to PSG. They are going for a South American (read Brazilian/Argentine) flare to their team. He also has citizenship and family in France. With Pastore being the starting AMF for Argentina it would up his value there by playing with him in club season.

Yup I think Pastore is lobbying for that, but PSG is also looking at Pato, Ancelotti loves him even if he is always injured

  • I read PSG already has ~42K a game at their stadium fan wise. It seats like 46K. So they have their fan base captivated. Next year with a few more good additions and more hype built they'll sell out every game and get massive tv revenue. I say all that to say I don't think they needed to make a publicitiy move like Beckham. 2-3 more known, good players and they'll be winning in front of big crowds.

If they add Kolo Toure, another defender, a really good MF, Higuain they'd be contenders for the Elite 8 in the Champions League (I know they don't call it that).

    fsufsu

  • Huge rumors that MF could be Kaka for PSG.

Supposedly Madrid are willing to take just 25 million euros for him which is a good price. Playing every day, Kaka would become world class again. He's a great guy marketing wise. He is Tebow in the world of futbol....except he's been the WPOY

Kaka and Pastore could totally play together. Taller, different version of Xavi an Iniesta.

Yeah, only one team in Paris. People loves PSG out there, I've been to a few matches when Ronaldinho was there, can get pretty crazy.
I think they're looking at one, maybe 2, world class striker like Higuain, Pato, Cavani...They also want another MF like Kaka or even Hamsik. And then some young talents like Lucas Moura, Ganso... They can really become something big

    alexSC

  • I'd take Kaka over Hamsik. For sure. Kaka is a consummate pro and an experienced Leader. Hamsik has some diva qualities.

Yeah, I'll do too probably. kaka has some risk tho, guy has been injured alot, Hamsik is also younger. But you're right, Kaka is a leader, Ancelotti knows him well.

  • I wish they'd get M'Vila or Phillipe Coutinho.
