PLEASE help the families in Conn, they will need SUPPORT

  • We will be setting something up to donate the school and families in Connecticut after this HEINOUS act. We are setting up a Donation Fund with the Elementary School and/or with the Families of the victims.

    We know and fully understand that money, or pretty much anything won't cure things but I believe any little thing we can do to help can help these families not have to worry about other things. They will need Therapy (Especially the Children that survived and witnessed everything), Funeral Fee's and all kinds of things that aren't cheap. At least it's SOMETHING because I refuse to sit here and do nothing when I can help these people out somehow, even if it's a little, it's a whole lot better than nothing.

    We are taking our time on this to do it right. We will be calling the school, setting up a Paypal fund, get the Families name and setup a Donation Fund for those affected most.

    Thank you guys.. These are 5 year old kids, I don't think i've seen something this bad in my life. These kids don't deserve that. I'm beyond mad at this point.

    Details will be updated daily and I'll change the thread title when the links are up.

    I have several kids and I broke down an cried when I read about this.
    Heartfelt prayers are all I can do for these folks.

  • If you want to start a BB fund or something to help the families Les, I'm in. I'm still trying to come to terms with this whole situation.

    Like ftlaudcock said though, I'm not sure there is anything that anyone can do to help those families. It's crazy enough to be a coward and kill your mother and the rest of the adults that he did, BUT to kill innocent children under the age of 10? I mean I don't even know how to comprehend it. This is the worst thing I have ever seen on the news in my life, and that includes 9-11. I know that the deaths were far more as far as numbers are involved with 9-11 but this is just on a completely different level to me.

    I'm sorry if I'm not making sense but I'm shellshocked.

  • Maybe we could find a charity that supports kids that are affected with serious violence in some capacity, that would be a way to do it. Not sure how it helps the families or prevents nutjobs from doing this again, but at least we could help innocent children from violence in some capacity. I would be down for a couple hundred if it sounds like a good idea to the rest of the board.

    We should. We can set up a Paypal account that goes straight to the organization we chose. That's if they don't already have one.

  • Here is the first one that popped up when I searched. Just let me know if anyone else is up for this and be vocal if you know of other charities. This is only one. I think we should at least settle on a single charity though.

    Child Abuse Prevention Foundation Charity ~ Fighting Violence Against Children ~ 401-KIDS

    401-KIDS is a foundation fighting child abuse through education and prevention. 401-KIDS foundation provides support to abused children at local hospitals.

  • Is there any way that one of the staff can pin this thread? I think at this point, it's about the most worthwhile thread that we could have and I'm sure that a bunch of posters would at least pitch in something. Couldn't make the board look bad either.

    I think the one that I posted earlier was national. I just typed in charities against violence against young children and that popped up.

    It would be a lot better if you could find something local to the Connecticut area though.

  • This is just me, but I would say we should hold off until a verified fund for the victims' families is established. Just like every major tragedy, there will be some scumbag trying to profit by setting up fake charities in the victims' names and stealing all the donations. The sentiment will still be there if we wait for a verified charity to be set up.

    I don't care what charity it goes to as long as it helps in violence against children. I agree with USMCAG that it should go to a local charity in the Connecticut area though. I've got $300 ready to go once we decide what charity to give it to and get all the details hammered out.

    Now let's figure out what charity we want to give our donations to and when we should do it. I agree with Stoobie that we put the donation in the names of the victims families. I also think that we should find a local Connecticut charity against violence against children to make it to.

  • Thank you guys so much for wanting to help like I do. I love the ideas but that's a child abuse charity.. This is something totally different. I would like to do something to help the families.. That's just me.. Or a charity in the families name once the dust settles. I'll throw down $1,000
