This is accurate. There's some misinformation ITT. He really only had Rock Hill as a recruiting territoy because he has a lot of old school connections in SC. Lorenzo Ward had to close Clowney.

He's pretty much a glass half empty guy to a fault. He'd be dominant with y'all's D talent but only if you have a cerebral/captain type guy in the secondary, otherwise they'll look lost at times.

Also, he'll act like someone shot his dog every time you beat Clemson, particularly in Clemson.

Lorenzo Ward was not the only one to close on Clowney.

Delta....sorry man but he seemed to enjoy it at Carolina. I don't know what he did at Miss State, but at Carolina he did a helluva job

He and croom stayed into it because he didn't want to recruit. So i know he didn't change his ways in a few short years

Might have been that way at State I guess

  • Ellis Johnson was the DC at Bama in 1997 when I was a student manager for the football team. He is a great person to have on staff. Very good DC but an even better person. He relates well to the players and was genuinely a really great person. I can't really speak to his recruiting as I didn't really see him do it much. He wasn't one of our top guys at that time on the recruiting trail.

He had a small territory when he was here at Carolina. He did a very good job though

  • Agree with most statements ITT. Great coach but pessimistic. When you hear him talk pre-game about preparation you would think you're getting ready to play the Packers, then when you give up 250 total yards and 10 points he talks about busted coverages and missed assignments which make you wonder how the heck you won the game.

IMO, he lives te bend but don't break philosophy. People may move the ball, but they get FGs instead of TDs. Rarely blitzes and usually is pretty solid at making halftime adjustments.

    And he hates beating clemson

  • Well by the sounds of it we could probably just give Ellis Jacksonville IF he was hired. Only a couple of kids out of there a year we really want and usually they are either REALLY into us or not. So he could probably handle that.

You do realize Odell and Dawsey Jacksonville and the surrounding areas right. Plus the Jacksonville area is more than just Duval County. We have Ponte Vedra, St Augustine, Baker County and Clay county who all had some pretty good players over the years that FSU recruited.

  • Yes I realize that, this is a super chill hypothetical thread. Just hanging out. Odell moves around as much as anyone really. He could go full bore for the DMV even like he's been warming up to doing.
