    Thats not what I neant.

Even I disagreed with the CFb Live segment about FSU's wr unit. They were basing their opinions off of FSU not having a Peter Warrick type talent.

I think that is a pretty dumb way to view a unit. Coley becoming UF's #2 does nothing, absolutely nothing, in terms of offensive efficiency.

No offense but, you really just made my argument. The wr position is an overrated one in college football. The FSU wr unit has been called by many as being a top 3-5 unit in the country.

Yet, that unit does absolutely nothing to help the run gm. The same can be said for Tenn. This is mainly due to insufficent pass/run blocking up front.

If your line is good up front, most of the time, your wr/rb units will look more than adequate.

Your argument wouldn't stand in hardly any coaching room in America man. There are WRs who are very talented and then there are WRs who can't be covered. Everyone knows the difference. If you think Justin Blackmon is as much a function of a run game and pass blocking as he is his skill set then we'll high five and head different directions bc I just can't agree.

Perfect example was FSU at OU in 2010. We were getting pass blocking but no one was open because our two best WRs were Bert Reed and a So Willie Haulstead who's good not great.

Not as high as some on McMillian but he is accurately ranked.

I don't think much of Fulwood, Lane at all, and Quinton Powell is a stud but you're LBs are mostly 6'0 210 guys from the last few classes.

Really impressive are KT, Lawson, Hearns, Brantley and Washington.

For the most part i see a class full of low four stars and high three stars aside from KT who's a 5 star type. I'm the first to say Dante Fowler is a STUD and will be a star in Gainesville and will compliment others but this class is "good" so far.

    @ least you like Lawson
    very underrated IMO

last year we got A. Morrison he is 6'3
and we got Jeremi Powell he is 6'2
    Muschamp's guys are over 6'0
Urban's guys were all 6'0 and under

  • Guys, don't feed FSUFSU.. Dude thinks everything FSU is amazing and everything UF mediocre..

I don't think FSU will take Coley, but I hope they do. He's exactly the kind of kid thats kept them down for so long. Unfortunately Jimbo probably realizes this as well.

Who gives a shit if he thinks Fullwood and the rest of our recruits are "meh." We finished with a great class last year and will again this year (Muschamps first full classes) Every single one of our LB commits is better than anything they have commited, and their need is even greater than ours at that position. We cleaned up instate already with our top targets at need positions and left them fighting a losing battle with Miami/Bama for Mathew Thomas.. Good luck. He's downplaying UF's class because FSU's is nowhere to be found right now. Why do you think he knows so much about our class? This is a common theme on FSU boards right now. They're all asking why UF is killing it on the trail, while FSU is off to a slow ass start. Most are too impatient to realize we're 8 months from NSD and let it play out.

So lets see. Our coaches have options out the ass right now at WR, LB, DL, OL, DB, and RB, and we decided to take who we've taken. You think they'd take "Backup" plans 8 months before NSD? I think I'll go with our coaching staffs opinion on these recruits, rather than an FSU homer with no idea what he's talking about. They can have Sejourn Shelton and the other no names, we'll take who we have.

This notion that FSU's roster is that much more talented than UF's is just plain dumb. FSU's OL talent alone puts them at a huge disadvantate. Guess what? The offense can't work with an OL and OL coach like that. I don't care how many good "prospects" you have at WR and RB. You guys couldn't run the ball at all last year, and you won't again this year. All that huge talk about Kelvin Benjamin, and for what? He did nothing because their QB's were sacked every other play. Wilder was their most effective RB in the spring game because he can fight for that extra yard or two, which meant he was getting 3 and 4 yard runs, instead of 1 or 2.

Last year the only difference between UF and FSU was John Brantley and Charlie Weis. We actually doubled them up in yards, which isn't saying much considering they had 92 yards TOTAL in the game. I sure didn't see all that talent FSUFSU keeps talking about.

Swampchomp. you tried too hard with that one. As much homer in that as anything I've typed. Made some good points though. I commend you.

Some other stuff you said was classic swamp though. Kelvin Benjamin for one looked incredible in the spring game.

Oh and PS, FSU will likely get 5-6 commits in June and be right where UF is. Both in class size and ranking so who cares that you jumped ahead in April? Quoting the dregs posters and FSUkum on how "UF is killing it" doesn't mean anything. When we got Darby and Goldman on NSD you guys had fringe posters go into insecurity mode too.

  • Sojourn Shelton is a clone of Cody Riggs who's been key for you guys.

And OL talent isn't an issue anymore.

Cam Erving has elite upside, I bet you haven't see him and will flame. Matias was an elite tackle prospect and is now at LG. Tre Jackson sent out some OL tape in January before NSD and got offers from OU, Bama, UGA, Tenn, Miami and FSU in a week, and looks great. Then you have Bobby Hart and Menelik Watson at RT. "Talent" won't be an issue. Inexperience will though.

You're trying to single out one gm, for FSU vs the bulk of the season. Why wouldnt my argument stand? There are less than a handful of wr units in the country that possess a Blackmon type talent.

The most efficient offense is a balanced offense, most of the time. And it doesnt take a Blackmon to have that.

How many Justin Blackmons did Andrew Luck have? LSU? Bama? USCe? Arky?

You think Justin Blackmon puts those #s up at FSU? EJ got sacked over 30+ times last season. How isnt a wr a product of pass blocking?

Why is the tackle position so important come draft day?

EJ actually got sacked 40 times last year. lol

Blackmon is who Coley most reminds me of. So I picked him.

You look at America's arguably three most prolific pass offenses last year and it's USC, WVU, and Clemson.

Robert Woods, Marquise Lee, Sammy Watkins, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey.

Two offenses are spread attacks that run a lot of what Urban used to run. Florida and FSU are pro-style. The pro-style offense had 2 future top 10 picks at WR on it. Not saying my opinion is infallible, just saying FSU the last few years as well as some other teams like Bama before Julio got there prove you can stack your roster with 4 stars but when a true 5* comes in they shoot to the top. Our 5* was just underrated because he was 6'0 165 in high school.

That was my point, but thanks.. And no, KB did nothing the first three quarters, just like the rest of both offenses. Albeit, is was a spring game, and dividing an already terrible OL against a good and deep DL is not good. However, after watching that OL last year, and every year since Trick has been there, it's not unbelievable to assume that what we saw is what you get. Those guys are just plain bad, and poorly coached at that. Until that changes, FSU won't/Can't take the next step. The talent is there at every other position on the team. The coaching is there at every other position, although I think you guys could probably use a new OC as well.

. Cody Riggs is playing less and less as Muschamp gets his guys in the fold (BTW Cody Riggs ran a 4.45, Shelton runs a 4.72). He played, and SHUTDOWN FSU, because both of our starting freshmen/sophmore corners were out for that game. Roberson and Watkins were both injured. We were actually missing FOUR defensive starters in the FSU and Ohio State games. Dom Easley, Marcus Roberson, Jaylen Watkins, and Larentee McCray were all out for FSU. Only one of whom was a junior. Still, FSU managed nothing on offense.

No doubt about it, our OL sucks until further notice. We almost all want Trickett gone. Should have happened this January when we were only signing two OLs and both Jucos.

We're likely going to add Denson, Droogsma and Klepal in June. Golson is elite. We're getting there.

    No I get your point.

I would love to have Coley, who wouldnt? He would be an upgrade to any unit. Im just saying that me personally, I dont value a wr corps being the strength of anybody's team. The unit is an accessory, because the strength has to be the qb/offensive line first.

Im different than alot of gators that I see post. I, for one, believe UF wont be back strong until 2014. Alot of people have 2013 as the target, but as of right now, it looks like our front 7 on d could possibly be very young. And we most likely will have 2 new starters at safety.

So Im not into caring as much for any of the offensive commits right now, unless they're lineman.

Meh.. See how easy that is. UF didn't offer any of those kids. Doesn't mean they suck. FSU landed a couple decent OL's in that 2011 class. While the talent is still sub par compared to the rest of the roster, it's the coaching that really MUST change. You say Trick should have been gone last January, I say he should have been gone after year two or three. He not only sucks, but his blocking scheme is not condusive with what Jimbo is trying to do on offense.

Had FSU made the change at OL coach, this would be their year. This is the year EJ is a senior, Jenkins and Warner are still around, all the DB's return, etc.. Next year will be a "rebuilding" year for FSU, which should still mean you guys win the ACC, but we know how that goes. The starting DL is gone, some key backups, and the DB's are gone. Plus, this is the last year there is still an obvious depth advantage over UF. The talent is there for us now, but the depth is still lacking in a couple areas.

Point is, this is the strongest team FSU will have "on paper" for the next two years, it's also the strongest in Jimbo's tenure so far as asst or HC. He should have made the move a while ago.

I just can't escape that Mark Richt feeling here. How long did it take him to finally get rid of Willie Martinez and hire Grantham. Look what that has done for their defense. He was on the brink of being fired. He had a great team "on paper" in 2008 and did nothing with them, thanks to being too loyal to crap asst coaches. I suspect after this year Jimbo will be feeling the pressure to make some changes on his staff. Not because FSU is going ot have a shitty season, but because you guys will lose two or three games, when you really should probably win them all at this point.

Having a consistent QB come in and a good OL coach is going to be a blessing for FSU, whether you want to admit it right now or not.

Didn't read most of that but we didn't land some "decent" OL in 2011.

Guys who had nearly every offer they could have gotten were Bobby Hart, Josue Matias, Tre Jackson. Lovelady and Carter were handpicked at the beginning of the process. And Austin Barron turned out to be a nice surprise. Trey Pettis is still fat and may wash out but those top three were elite. Cam Erving moving over as a RSo simply strengthens the group as well.

But hey, perhaps they wont watch what the offense does against the stronger defenses.

  • It was funny when Muschamp just came out and said he doesn't recruit a kid long that asks about depth charts. When Dante asked FSU and UF about depth charts about 100 times between November and NSD.

It's not as good as "Top 1% of the top 1%" but it's a nice first "DOH!" quote for Muschamp.
