Just because the refs blew the call doesn't mean Stanford didn't punch it in. Stanford punching it in and the refs recognizing that Stanford punched it in are mutually exclusive.

You said stopped at forward progress.. Which was 2-3 yards before the goal line and not reviewable... It took him forever to cross the plane but he did.. Unless, like you say, the whistle blew when forward progress was stopped.

Mike Pereira: We have looked at ND/STA last play from every angle & feel that it is a TD. Progress was not ruled & runner was not down. Ball broke plain.

That was a TD, Stanford got robbed. Some other bad calls as well, like the Pac12 refs spotting the ball 2 1/2 yards wrong after an earlier replay.

They cannot review if he was down if the whistle blew because the whistle blew and that is the end of it. They can review to see if they player had crossed the goal line when the whistle blew.

They spotted the ball 2 1/2 yards the wrong way but also moved the first down 5 yards the wrong way thus going from 3rd and 9 to 3rd and 6.
