Stanford got SCREWED

    Homers?

Dude, there were LSU fans saying Taylor scored. There was even an Iowa fan that agreed he scored.

What do LSU and Iowa fans have against ND?

A better question, what do the Pac 12 and Big East officials have against Stanford?

Taylor kept reaching and turning, and ended up reaching the ball across the goal line, but the officials ruled it was too late because the play had been stopped.

    You're so ignorant.

Just because that is the official call, doesn't mean that's actually what happened.

By your logic, the Seahawks beat the Packers and the Seahawks win is justified.

Nothing, hence the silliness of this thread.

Dude, even Mike Periera agrees it was a TD. I'd say he knows more about the rules than you do.

And honestly, what do I have to be butt hurt about? I love how you claim I'm butthurt because you have no real comeback. lol

LOL, yes the P12 and Big East are using replacement officials. I will believe the officials over homers on a message board. Why do you care? You should want ND to win.

If they ruled his progress stopped and no TD then anything after is irrelevant. NO TD.

We always cheat, even when we suck & lose. People just can't stomach a winning ND team. Jeezuz Christ! This is really eating people. Can't wait for ND to be good for real.

If the whistle didn't stop the play.. The ball crossed the plane when he was on top of bodies.

You are right, but the whistle did stop the play and the side judge was running in. Even if it was a TD it's a tie game, so saying they got screwed is a bit of a stretch. Bush Push happened to us and nothing you can do about it. I'll enjoy this one a lot more though..

Honestly, Stanford did get screwed - they got screwed out of a chance to win the game. They didn't necessarily get screwed out of a victory, but they got screwed out of the chance they deserved. Just because the TD would've only tied the game doesn't mean Stanford didn't get screwed.

The ref blew the whistle. ND would have been screwed had they allowed a TD after the whistle blew. Watch the video, you cannot see the ref until later running in but look at Te'o, etc. Do you really think he would be celebrating if the whistle had not blown? Look at the 20-23 sec mark and notice the ND players action and the ref entering the pic. He has already signaled the play dead.

He did, after the ref clearly blew the whistle...which means it doesn't count. Watch the video, it is clear at the 20 sec mark.

  • Reminds me of how the Pac12 refs also gave ND a win over Washington a few years ago,
on a similar goal-line situation. What was that 2009?

Yup, ND paid the PAC 12 refs to let ND win over a PAC 12 team. I think you're on to something

  • Although the rule no longer uses the language: in the grasp of an opponent”; philosophically it is implied through tradition. Both high school and college rules deem the ball dead and forward progress stopped when the ball carries is “held so his (forward advancing) progress is stopped” (Federation Rule 4-2-2-a; NCAA Rule 4-1-3-a). NCAA Rule 4-1-3-a states that the ball becomes dead “when the runner is so held that his forward progress is stopped.” Officials must determine if the opponent of the runner has sufficiently held or grasped the runner so as to have stopped his forward movement. This action is what kills the play not the whistle.

If they had stopped his progress, he wouldn't have been able to break the plane....like he did.

You got the win so it makes no sense why you feel the need to try to convince the world it didn't see what it saw.

Unless you're just trying to emulate Pete Carroll in the wake of the Seattle/Green Bay debacle....in whhich case:

The video above clearly shows the whistle was blown before Taylor reached out to with the ball. No need to convince anyone, the video speaks for itself.

  • Fanatic ND fan here.

Before we get to the goalline, Stanford received a bad call IMO at the 45 with the vicious hit on Golson adding 15 yards. They also moved the 3rd and 7 to the wrong 48 yardline, making them go 4 yards further on the total drive. Truthfully, neither had a major effect and the first call could be offset by Tuitt's roughing the passer which was even weaker than Golson's unncessary roughness.

We dont know what the interpretation was. Was it a whistle when Taylor was stopped from going forward? (I mean, why did Manti Te'o stop helping?) Was the left elbow down or not?

A fair question I have heard here: If it were you, ND, would YOU be pissed. Fact is yes I absolutely would. But I while I would direct some ire at the officials for not giving my team the preponderance of the evidence on a play that would have tied the game again, I would be even MORE PISSED that my team couldnt convincingly put the ball in as a smash mouth team with 2 attempts inside the 1 yardline.

So, yes I would be pissed.

Didn't know it was possible to score twice on the same series, without a penalty, and not get a single point.

That's what I thought - he looked like he scored the first time. Both times he had a second effort that put him in for a TD. jmo

    Yeah, I said it.
