Steelers will release Hines Ward.

  • This is a sad day for Steelers fans. The organization has mentioned how he gave it his all to make these young receivers the best they could be. Hines has said that he couldn't force himself to wear another uniform. I think he will retire. Hall of Fame career, without a doubt.

    Favorite Steeler of all time.

Chris Carter disagrees.. and only 7 of the top 20 yard receivers of all time are in the Hall. Im am not sorry as an avid Steeler hater and Browns fan but I did like his hard nosed style on the field.

I didn't say Hines would be first ballot. Carter will get in. Ward will get in.

  • I do think he is HoF material, I loved the way he played the game. Probably one of the most physical WRs.

Didn't say what? That I think both Carter and Ward will get in? Yea, man... That is totally off the wall there... Especially since just about every commentator says "future HoF Hines Ward" every Steelers game. They don't just say that about anyone. Check the numbers. Ward and Swann are the best Steelers receivers of all time.

If you don't like Ward, that is fine. He is probably the best blocking receiver ever to play the game. Will it take awhile for him to get in? Of course. Cris Carter, Andre Reed and Tim Brown are also waiting to get in. Its tough to get in as a WR, but he will get in.

Where did you get that? You said "I didn't say he would be a first ballot HoF'er" I then replied "lol I know you didn't say that" clearly inferring to the part about the 1st ballot hof comment ... I don't see where that was so hard to follow honestly. It is just difficult for to have a disagreement with you Mountie.. you get on edge instantly. He may or may not be a hof. IMO if that is ok with you, I don't think he will but I have been wrong before... and likely will again at some point.... don't be scared of point counter point...

  • Not a Steelers fan, but it's sad to see a guy be so loyal and it have to come to an end.

  • The writing has been on the wall. Ward may not have put up crazy stats but he played the game a bit differently than any other wr.

Carter isn't in the HOF because reporters didn't like him when he played, not the case with Ward.

  • Can he coach? UGA has some personnel decisions to be made if so. rumor

Can always use another bagman on the staff to keep these guys home.

  • Aaron Smith is being released as well. One of the most underrated players of the last decade and a lynchpin in the success of the Steelers defense during that time.
