No, but it can't be more than 2 losses to be considered an elite team. Of course he gets credit for a win, but there's a difference between just getting a win and beating an elite team. Do you consider three loss teams to be elite? I'd even say some two loss teams aren't elite. Look at Saban's 2008 team. Two losses - granted one was to the national champion, but the other was Utah. Not an elite team, especially once you factor in the lack of talent on that team relative to his later Alabama teams or his best LSU teams. It was his second year and he didn't have many of his own guys in there.
Obviously beating a one loss team counts as getting a win against an elite team. Most two loss teams would count (except for certain situations like the one I described). But three losses? No way that's an elite team.
