Stoops was merely saying that before all the talk started coming up about if anybody should get the title, and believe it or not people do think that OU should get the title for the mere fact that they played in the game even though they got butt slammed, that OU wants no part of it. If this story was written by the person I think it was, he probably left a lot of the quote out of it just to stir up some chatter like this. Here is the quote from the story.

So an Auburn player from the 2004 team didn't admit to taking improper benefits on HBO?

I thought that Auburn was a better team than Oklahoma and should've played for the national title. But they didn't and so they shouldn't get the title. If I had to make a decision on who it would go to, then I would give it to Oklahoma because they actually played for it. I think it's best right now to leave it unclaimed, but the BCS & NCAA have to put a plan in place for future situations like this. It seems as they will be making alot more of these sitautions in the future.
