Summer Soccer Transfer Window Discussion....

I am willing to bump this so just go ahead and join in.

Biggest movers and shakers will be Paris St Germain and Manchester City with Chelsea in 3rd.

I truly believe PSG will add Kaka as well as Gonzalo Higuain. Also seems like E. Adebayor is destined for Paris.
They will likely add two fullbacks as well. T.Motta at DMF backing up Kaka and Pastore with Higuain, Nene and Adebayor up top would make PSG a favorite to win the Ligue 1 by as many as 10 pts IYAM. Good for soccer that Paris will finally have a powerhouse team.

Manchester City has to sell Balotelli IYAM and I'd also sell Tevez. Their brand is exploding and a tremendous team formed. Caustic personalities like those two are the quickest way to derail what could be a special run. I'd say, realistically, sell Balotelli, keep Tevez, add Eden Hazard which is going to happen and then try and add a guy like Edinson Cavani as a 3rd striker who is proven. They would then likely be selling off Dzeko, De Jong, Balotelli, and Kolarov.

Chelsea is likely going to sell Drogba, Malouda, and a couple other aging/overpaid stars. I think they still see another 2 good years out of Torres. They are likely going to be able to win the bid for Hulk who is going to be a superstar in England. Fantastic player, unique, and a tremendous guy/personality.

Madrid will sell Kaka and Higuain but I am not sure who they will get. Many are saying Robin Van Persie but I doubt that. He'll be 29 next year and after 10 underachieving years he blows the doors off? What are the odds you get two more years like that. RVP likely doesn't agree but I think he'd be shocked how he'd basically be their 2nd striker behind Benzema and would often be tapping in CR7s crosses and passes as the crowd cheers for Ronaldo.

I'm also intrigued with Barcelona. Most have them selling David Silva and Adriano to make a play for Gareth Bale. Not sure about that but Bale is a freak and a top 25 player regardless of position for the next 5 years. Tello and Cuenca emerging give them the versatility to sell a striker and not have to buy one.

    Thoughts?

  • He and Hulk would give them truly amazing options going forward. With Torres as the point man.

Indeed. Could be the next manager's generation to lead to success for the club.

I agree. I think he earned a permanent position to see what he can do with It.

I'm a little hesitant with Pep in England, but I can only imagine how insistent Abramovich must be IF he wants someone for his club.

  • I am really pulling for PSG now. I love following projects and they're at the ground floor so I will start following and cheering for them. Plus I've visited Paris and that makes me legit right?

I am really hoping they are able to get Pato, Kalou, and Lavezzi. Would satiate Pastore and really put their attack in the upper echelon in Europe.

I have no qualms about choosing European teams. There isn't really a standard or anything that most of us could abide anyways. I doubt most Americans who are fans of European sides have ever been to said city or seen a game or are from there etc.

Well, claiming fanship of a team like Barcelona usually makes you a colossal tool. So I'm declaring fanship of PSG and will just continue to be the biggest Messi fan in Tennessee. Been that since he was 19 so it's been a profitable proposition.

Safe bet on players instead of teams.

  • so the annual (it seems that way) scandal in Italy grows to claim Mauri.

Lazio's Stefano Mauri among 14 arrested amid match-fixing probe in Italy - ESPN

Italian authorities swept through the Italy national team training site near Florence Monday and made more than a dozen arrests, including Lazio captain Stefano Mauri, elsewhere as part of a wide-ranging investigation into match-fixing in soccer.

  • Italy is like the city of Chicago extrapolated out into national form. Or maybe Chicago is Italy condensed into city form.

    fsufsu

  • Sounds like Brasilian phenom Lucas Moura may sign with Real this summer in part because his agent owes Madrid's President money from when he loaned him money for a divorce last summer when they were colluding to land Neymar in Madrid. Now THAT's politics in sports!

Lucas would be best served by signing with Real but then getting loaned out to a Mallorca or similar outfit. He needs to move to Spain and learn the game and language but he aint ready to wear White just yet.

United fans made sure to recognize on Twittee that Kagawa had more goals and assists in just a few more games in tougher competition.

Yea some Utd fans believe Kagawa is better than Hazard. They both are great players and it is true that Kagawa played in a better league and did very well in that league, but I think Hazard's potential is better than Kagawa. I definitely would have preferred Hazard, but I'll gladly take Kagawa.
