Tampa Bay is absolutely electric right now about USF Football

  • I've lived in Tampa for about 20 years now, and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Sadly, I'm the only person in my neighborhood that has a BAMA flag in their yard. 3 years ago it was almost 50/50 Florida State and Florida, now it's about 90% Bulls.

    Everybody I've talked to is predicting a victory over Notre Dame on opening weekend.

  • The only chance your current DB's will have with USF's speed at WR will be to let the grass grow to 8" and keep the sprinklers on for week before kickoff. Sorry.

  • Where in Tampa do you live? I haven't seen much of any USF excitement. The apex of the USF bandwagon that I remember was when they were ranked at a comically high #2. Many of the USF "fans" I know, including students couldn't name more than 2 players on the team, one I asked actually thought Grothe was still there.

    Full disclosure: I took some post-graduate classes there and am a USF hater.

    I guess my question is, why? They were putrid on offense last year, and while their defense was good, they lost half of their starters (and three on the D-Line). I watched them play a horrible 4-8 Rutgers team @ USF and they barely got by. Their two "big" wins were against a 6-7 Clemson team and a 7-6 Miami team that was in disarray at the end of the season.

    ND is going to destroy these guys.

  • Yeeeeeah....no.

    Im just finishing up a few post-Bach classes at USF i need to apply to grad school...No one seems all that excited about their football team. I mean, people are excited to start football and think USF will be OK, but no one thinks they will be world beaters and most have them losing to ND at ND.

    This is the perspective on campus and around the school (Outside of my undergrad time at FSU, ive lived right next to USF campus for about 14 years now)

  • I know this stupid to post because they beat us and yada yada but I cannot wait to beat them by 3-4 TDs in Tampa next year. I guaran-damn-tee it.
